Hua, Deadly Betrothed, is among the difficult bosses that you will face when playing Phantom Blade Zero. She uses quick grabbing moves, teleports, and Flesh Lily skills that could be tough on you unless you know how to counter her. Nevertheless, with proper preparation, you should manage to defeat her easily.
Best Build For Hua Deadly Betrothed

Accessories you should equip are Token of Pursuit, Battle Wraps, and Hunter’s Insight. If you find it difficult to survive the attack of this monster, you may want to use Boulder Guard in place of one of the accessories. You will be able to obtain this accessory after completing a quest at My Mandate Outpost and coming back to Axe Master’s jail cell. Be sure to upgrade your weapons before engaging in battle with the boss.
Another way you can use the dread axe is when Hua is not attacking. It will stun her momentarily, allowing you time to charge your weapon with just one hit and perform two hits on her. If you manage to time it well, it will allow you to knock her down and cause even more damage to her. If you fail to time it properly, you can use a quick hit to do some damage to her.
Hua Deadly Betrothed Moveset And How To Counter

Hua has several dangerous attacks, but her two grab attacks are the ones you should pay the most attention to. Learning how to avoid these will make the fight much easier.
Grab Attacks
The first grab from Hua comes very fast, which makes it easy to be hit if one focuses only on attacks. As soon as you see the red flash, you need to dodge immediately. The timing is pretty forgiving if you do it fast enough.
The second grab is much more dangerous and is performed through summoning several white-colored “Flesh Lilies”. The moment a player touches them, Hua teleports next to Soul and performs the grab. There are a few methods of dealing with this grab. If you are near her while summoning the flowers, you need to block or parry. This action may help you to avoid the grab almost completely. But if you are far enough, dodge to the side and block those flowers, which will redirect their path to Soul.
A missed perfect block will result in huge Sha-Chi damage. Should your Sha-Chi be broken, you will be leaving yourself vulnerable to a Hua teleport grab attack before you even get an opportunity to change weapons. It would be much better to dodge a couple of flowers and then block the rest of them. On the other hand, Hua may simply teleport into you and execute her red flash attack. The invulnerability frames from the attack allow you to dodge most of the flowers.
Both of these grab attacks represent Hua’s deadliest attacks. Learning to counter them, in particular the white Flesh Lily attack, will make your battle much easier.
Red Spider Lilies
Be alert for the floor at all times during the match, as most of Hua’s attacks will spawn red spider lilies that will drain your Sha-Chi when you are within them for some period of time. These flowers will also explode, causing you damage after a little while.
The explosion itself isn’t particularly dangerous, but the Sha-Chi drain can become a serious problem. This is especially true when you’re trying to block her white Flesh Lily attack. Make sure you don’t stand inside these flowers while defending against her other moves.
Regular Attacks And Teleport Strikes
There are two kinds of normal attacks that Hua executes – wide sweeping attacks and hard chopping attacks from above. It would be rather easy to evade her chopping attacks since all you have to do is simply to step aside. However, her sweeping attacks require you to step away from her since she has a wider range of strikes.
However, parries should be used whenever possible because each successful parry drains Hua’s energy, thus creating chances for dealing some damage to her. Hua also uses a teleportation attack when she first stays in a particular position and then teleports straight to Soul in order to deliver a strike. The attack may look confusing at first, but then you will easily parry it.
Black Flash Attacks
Black flashes from Hua are very deadly. You can actually block the black flashes, but blocking the black flashes will make you suffer great Sha-Chi damage, which may even break your weapon. In case your Sha-Chi breaks, use another weapon to recharge it. The best thing you can do is to avoid the black flashes.
Blue Flash Attacks
Furthermore, Hua also includes blue flash attacks within her usual attack combinations. These attacks are quite fast, which makes it a bit difficult for the opponent to block them. But if you successfully manage to block them, then she will be countered, resulting in stamina damage.
Red Flower Attack
Another attack you should be aware of is the red flower attack by Hua. She creates a ring of red flowers which gradually comes in and explodes. Touching any of the flowers and even being hit by the explosion would do some damage to Soul. The best way to evade this attack is to move outside the ring. There is no need to immediately move as soon as she casts her spell since it takes time before it reaches its target point.
