Daughter of the Dark Sect is a tale within Phantom Blade Zero that happens in the Mandate Encampment area of Wulin. In order for one to accomplish it, one will be required to meet with Red the Mysterious Swordswoman, survive the encounter, and fight with her against the Chief Disciple of the Seven Star Formation.
How to Complete Daughter of the Dark Sect
Before you get the opportunity to complete the Daughter of the Dark Sect questline, you have to first make progress in Chapter 7: The Heart’s Trail and beat Gu Wanyue at the end of the chapter. Upon defeating her, you will be able to find the way to the Mandate Encampment Outer Gate Key that allows you to enter the Mandate Encampment region in Lu Village.
You can find the Daughter of the Dark Sect quest in the Mandate Encampment region of Wulin. To start it, head to the Dovecote Bell and speak to the Disoriented Swordswoman standing nearby. This conversation will unlock the questline and allow you to begin exploring Red’s story.
Speak to the Disoriented Swordswoman
Once you have unlocked the Mandate Encampment, head to the Dovecote Bell. The Disoriented Swordswoman is located near here. You can speak with her to begin the Daughter of the Dark Sect quest series. Following the dialogue, go into the tower that she is standing next to, and travel all the way up to its roof. This is where you will find Red the Mysterious Swordswoman.
Spare Red the Mysterious Swordswoman
At the very top of the tower, you will meet Red the Mysterious Swordswoman for the first time. Try not to kill Red in this fight as she is needed for you to receive all the rewards offered by the Tale. Rather, use the chain available to you to escape the battle and move to the other side of the area. Doing so will allow you to leave the encounter and continue the quest, at the same time activating the prompt that asks whether Red will reappear. Killing Red here will make you fail the quest instantly, and you will lose the chance to get any rewards from her encounter.
Go further through the Mandate Encampment until you reach the Three Towers Bell. There, you will meet the Chief Disciple of the Seven-Star Formation. Kill him and go on to his second phase when he becomes the Chief Disciple, Sword of Despair. In this phase, when the HP of your opponent is lowered to about half, Red will come to help him if you didn’t kill her during the first encounter.
Defeat the Chief Disciple and Red
You now need to defeat both Red and the Chief Disciple, Sword of Despair, to complete the encounter. Once both enemies are defeated, you will immediately receive the following rewards:
- Swordsman’s Summon Phantom Edge
- Training Grounds Key
Additionally, you can gather extra rewards from their bodies following the battle. Following the battle, you’ll be able to spot the bodies of Red and the Chief Disciple, with a Memory Flower on each of them. Approach the Chief Disciple’s Memory Flower to get Twin Heroes’ Memory Flower 2: Own Decision. Next, approach Red’s Memory Flower to get Twin Heroes’ Memory Flower 1: The Mandate’s Decision and the Twin Fish Pendant. The gathering of both Memory Flowers boosts your maximum HP by 5%.
Daughter of the Dark Sect Rewards
Completing the Tale and collecting the rewards grants you the following:
- Swordsman’s Summon Phantom Edge
- Twin Fish Pendant
- Twin Heroes’ Memory Flower 1: The Mandate’s Decision
- Twin Heroes’ Memory Flower 2: Own Decision
- Permanent 5% increase to maximum HP
Make sure you spare Red during your first encounter, as this is necessary to experience the full questline and obtain all its rewards.
