Find & Talk to Matthew in KCD2 The Devil’s Pack Quest

In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s “The Devil’s Pack” quest, Henry finds himself tasked with reuniting his old mercenary band. This reunion tour begins with a conversation with Kubyenka, who provides the lowdown on the missing members – Janosh, Matthew, Adder, Bohuta, and Ranyek. Gathering all of this information on every member is essential to advancing the quest and will pin their locations on Henry’s map. This walkthrough deals with locating and negotiating with one such member, elusive Matthew, whose whereabouts are attached to his questionable activities in the vicinity of Miskowitz. Prepare for battle, as Matthew is not necessarily keen on rejoining the party.

How to Start The Devil’s Pack Quest

In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, the “Devil’s Pack” quest sees Henry teaming up with the Dry Devil and Kubyenka. Their goal? To reunite their old gang. The quest kicks off with Henry chatting to Kubyenka, who fills him in on what’s happened to each missing member. It’s important to ask Kubyenka about Janosh, Matthew, Adder, Bohuta, and Ranyek to get the full picture. Once Henry’s got the details, the map will show him where to find Bohuta and Matthew.

Matthew Location

Okay, so Henry’s next stop is the Bailiff of Miskowitz. Talking to him reveals that Matthew’s been busy robbing folks between Miskowitz and Suchdol. While you’re at it, ask the Bailiff about Janosh too – that’ll kick off another quest.

Now, finding Matthew is the trickier part. His waypoint is west of Miskowitz, but it’s a huge area. He’s usually hanging out somewhere along the main road within that marked zone. There are two ways you can run into Matthew. The first time, you might just stumble upon him and his gang on the west road out of Miskowitz. This encounter will immediately turn into a fight – no chance to talk things over.

The other way to meet him is a bit more involved. You can follow Kubyenka’s lead and talk to the Bailiff of Miskowitz. The Bailiff will tell you about Matthew’s thievery and robberies on the road to Suchdol. If you go this route, you’ll get a chance to actually speak with Matthew when you find him.

When Henry finally catches up with Matthew, it turns out he’s not exactly thrilled about the idea of rejoining the gang. He’s quite happy being a “collector for the king” (aka a thief). He’ll try to shake Henry down for 1000 Groschen. Henry can either pay up or tell him where to go. If he refuses to pay, a fight breaks out. Either way, though, Matthew’s not coming back to the gang.
