Red Wood in Expedition 33 is an area that’s all about dumping Chroma into the fountain where you’ll have to save up 90,000 Chroma and pour it in one go to unlock milestones. This guide will help you hit the final tier to summon Benisseur and help you survive his bubble waves so that you can get your hands on the great rewards!
Pouring Chroma in the Red Wood
There isn’t much to do in the Red Wood besides pouring Chroma into the fountain. While you’ll get a danger warning upon entering, you can actually visit the area at any time during the game.
Tip: It’s wise to save up 90,000 Chroma and pour it all at once to streamline your progress. You won’t receive any rewards unless you reach all the milestones.
Chroma Milestones:
- 5,000 Chroma
- 10,000 Chroma
- 25,000 Chroma
- 50,000 Chroma
After pouring the final 50,000 Chroma, a character named Benisseur will appear and thank you for waking him. He will then reward you with the Recovery Picto.
From that point on, Benisseur remains available in the area and you can talk to him or challenge him to a duel whenever you wish to.
Why You Should Duel Benisseur Immediately
Choosing to challenge Benisseur as soon as he appears will be the smart move for you regardless of your current level. The battle with Benisseur is less about raw power and more about survival. It’s basically a gimmick fight, which means you don’t need to deal any damage at all, just focus on staying alive.
What to Expect in the Fight
Benisseur only uses one attack and that’s a bubble wave. He will unleash it seven times, with each wave containing fewer bubbles than the last. The key to winning is simple:
- Dodge or parry the bubbles
- Heal and revive your team as needed
If you can survive the seven waves then Benisseur will collapse on his own and that will end the fight.
Battle Rewards
Defeating Benisseur earns you some generous early-game loot:
- 219,576 Chroma
- 3 Colour of Lumina
- 1 Grandiose Chroma Catalyst
- 216,000 XP
These rewards are excellent, especially considering you don’t even have to land a single hit. The Chroma payout alone more than covers the cost of summoning him, and the Grandiose Chroma Catalyst is an extremely rare item that usually appears much later in the game.
