How to Check Destiny 2 Server Status

When looking to verify the Destiny 2 server status, visit the official Bungie website, where they update all planned maintenance, or you can follow us on X. We report both planned and unplanned downtime as well as server glitches. Downdetector displays user-reported issues in the past 24 hours with Destiny 2. Reddit is another great place to see if other players are getting the same or similar errors.

Common Issues Faced by Players

  1. Connection Errors: Connection-related issues and error codes are common problems in online games, including Destiny 2. This issue often occurs when the server is down. To resolve this problem, it is advisable to restart the game once and check your internet connection. Also, ensure the game’s server is up and running fine.
  2. Frequent Disconnects: If you, like many other players, frequently experience disconnection issues, it may be due to a network problem. In that case, try switching your internet connection to a wired connection for a better and more reliable connection.
  3. Delays and Lag: Spikes in latency are also common issues in online games, especially during peak hours when the new update is out. So, it is best to check the current server status or try playing the game when there is less traffic on the server.

Error Codes that Appear When the Server is Unavailable

Destiny 2 gamers often see unusual error codes while playing or during installation. These codes are usually named after animals, plants, or musical instruments.

  1. Error Code Baboon: This error usually indicates packet loss or connection issues with Bungie. Try switching to a wired connection to fix it, as it offers more stability.
  2. Error Codes Bee, Fly, and Lion: These errors are also caused by disconnects from packet loss or signal interruptions. They can occur when other devices use bandwidth. You can try stopping non-Destiny internet usage and switching your internet connection to a wired connection.
  3. Error Code Cat: You must update the game to resolve the Cat error in Destiny 2. Log out from the game and install the latest updates.
  4. Error Code Chicken: This error also occurs due to connection issues. So, like other workarounds, try switching your internet connection from WiFi to Wired for a stable and reliable connection. Clearing your download cache on Steam or restarting your router/modem can help resolve the issue.

Fix Destiny 2 Connection and Server Errors

If the servers are not to blame for the errors you are getting, you will need to fix the issue on your end. Here are some basic fixes we have put together to get you in-game.

  1. Test Network Speed and Statistics on Xbox: Check your network speed and performance on Xbox.
  2. Test Internet Connection on PlayStation & Switch: Make sure the internet connection on your PlayStation and Switch is working fine and stable.
  3. Update the GPU drivers and reboot the PC: It is always advisable to keep your graphics drivers updated to the latest version. If not, get them updated and then reboot your PC.
  4. Do not use a VPN: If you are using any VPN connection, disable it as it may interfere with the connection.
  5. Try using a mobile hotspot or another ISP internet: Try using a mobile hotspot or switching to a different internet service provider and check if that makes any difference.
  6. Ensure you are not using any proxy server (go to LAN settings > Connections). If the connection is not working, you can try power cycling your router/modem to establish a new, fresh connection.
  7. Reset the modem/router:
  8. Update the OS and the Optional Updates:
