The Demons of Trosky quest in Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is an interesting mixture of mystery and humor. It also comes with a good portion of infuriating bugs, as the players reported game-breaking glitches that prevented them from accessing key fireplaces or unlocking crucial doors, thus kindling a halt in further progress. The Fireplace Bug in the Maiden Tower keeps a vital green door locked, while the Door Bug stops players from advancing after reporting to Bergrow. While PC players have discovered temporary workarounds using console commands, console users on Xbox and PS5 are left with no option but to reload an earlier save. Until an official fix is released, players must rely on these community-discovered solutions to complete the quest.
Demons of Trosky Walkthrough Guide
To start the quest, Henry needs to speak with Chamberlain Ulrich, who is still recovering from his stomach ulcer, assuming players helped him during For Whom the Bell Tolls. With a backlog of unfinished work, Ulrich assigns Henry to investigate strange demonic activity in the castle.
- Reports suggest that demons have been causing trouble by souring milk, scratching walls, and eating coal, alarming the castle’s residents.
- Ulrich gives Henry a choice between two “demon-banishing” potions, but the selection has no real impact on the quest.
- Henry must gather information from three witnesses: the cooks Bertha, Manyeta, and the blacksmith Orsa.
- Manyeta, near the kitchen, describes strange scratching sounds, foul odors, and frightened people in the cellar and pantry. She suggests pouring holy water or the potion around fireplaces in the Crone Side of Trosky Castle.
- Orsa, found in the smithy, points Henry toward the castle walls, hinting at investigating how the demons might enter the castle.
- Bertha, located above the Bathhouse, claims the demons have been shedding hair and leaving droppings all over the kitchen.
- Henry suspects the cause might not be demons at all but a simple rat infestation.
Regardless, Bertha insists that he should sprinkle the demon-banishing potion around the Maiden’s side of the castle fireplaces, preferably at midnight, to avoid disturbing the castle’s residents. Once that’s done, players can move on to the Crone Side fireplaces and complete the ritual.
Crone Fireplace Locations
Below are all Crone fireplace locations:
Fireplace | Location | Instructions | Description |
1st Fireplace | Next to Bertha | Approach the fireplace and wait for the “Sprinkle” interaction prompt to complete the ritual. | Simple and safe to access. |
2nd Fireplace | Room above the kitchen | Climb the stairs at the back, turn left, and open the door. The fireplace is on the left side of the room. | This room connects to the bridge leading to the Maiden side of Trosky Castle. |
3rd Fireplace | Scribe’s study | Climb the stairs past the second fireplace to the third floor, then look to the left and open the door. The fireplace is inside. | Entering this room may trigger “restricted zone” warnings—be cautious. |
4th Fireplace | Attic above the scribe’s room | From the scribe’s room, climb into the attic, continue along the wooden stairs, and go through the brown door leading to the Alchemy lab. | Guards may patrol the area. Wear high-end clothes and Lion Perfume for persuasion or use Saviour Schnapps before entering. |
5th Fireplace | Furthest room in the restricted zone | Climb the stairs into two restricted zones. The fireplace is in the furthest room. | Guards patrol this area constantly; stick close to Hans Capon and follow him to access the fireplace without issues. If guards block the way, use ‘Exit Save’ and reload the game. |
Maiden Fireplace Locations
Below are all the Maiden fireplace locations:
Fireplace | Location | Instructions | Description |
1st Fireplace | Ulrich’s chamber | Cross the wooden bridge from the Crone side to the Maiden side, open the door at the end, and find the fireplace in front of Ulrich. | Easily accessible without restrictions. |
2nd Fireplace | Room next to Ulrich’s chamber | Open the door in front of Ulrich and find the fireplace inside the next room. | Still within a safe zone, no major obstacles. |
3rd Fireplace | Kitchen near Manyeta | Descend one floor to the kitchen and sprinkle holy water on the fireplace. | Simple task with no guards interfering. |
4th Fireplace | Restricted upper room | Return to the second fireplace room, climb the stairs, and enter the guarded room. | Best accessed at midnight to avoid guards and restrictions. |
5th Fireplace | Maiden’s Quarters | Head in the opposite direction from the fourth fireplace, enter the Maiden’s Quarters, and move stealthily to find the final fireplace. | Avoid disturbing residents—move carefully and exit quickly. |
Orsa’s Task
Orsa confidently claims he knows where the demons are coming from and sends Henry on a series of tasks to track them down. The first location is near the castle battlements, left of the courtyard, close to the shooting targets. Upon investigating, Henry quickly realizes that the so-called “demonic hotspot” is nothing more than a latrine. After a brief monologue expressing his disbelief, he returns to Orsa for further directions.
Following Orsa’s next lead, Henry heads to another supposed demon nest, this time on the third floor of the Maiden’s side of the castle, ironically near the area leading to the fourth and fifth fireplaces. The investigation point, once again, turns out to be a latrine right in front of the stairs. Frustrated but determined, Henry returns to Orsa, demanding that he take the matter seriously. However, Orsa remains unfazed and sends him off to check one final location.
The last investigation site is on the Crone’s side of the castle, on the upper floor near the third fireplace. Unsurprisingly, it’s yet another latrine. By this point, Henry is beyond furious. Returning to Orsa will trigger a humorous exchange, where Henry can either laugh off the prank or let his fists do the talking, delivering a well-deserved beating for wasting his time.
Should You Fight Orsa or Let It Go?
The choice is entirely up to the players, as there are no major consequences beyond a small reputation shift and the option to brawl with Orsa. If Henry laughs it off, he might lose some reputation but will gain Ulrich’s respect, as Ulrich was aware that Orsa would try to prank the newcomer.
On the other hand, choosing to fight Orsa can be risky. Combat in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 can escalate quickly, sometimes leading to unintended NPC deaths, which could cause bigger problems. Plus, many in-game decisions have hidden consequences that may not be immediately clear but could impact events later. So, players should think twice before throwing a punch.
With the choice made, Henry can return to Ulrich for his reward. There, he’ll find some Groschen, with a boost to Scholarship, Vitality, and Survival skills. In addition, an extra reputation is granted at the end of this quest, making it a good thing no matter what choice he made.
Bugs in Demons of Trosky Quest
The most frustrating glitch is found on the Demons of Trotsky quest, where it becomes game-breaking, preventing any further progress. These bugs have left many in a state without an apparent solution. Until there is an official fix, the following solutions must be used by players to continue.
The Demons of Trotsky Fireplace Bug
The Demons of Trotsky Fireplace Bug in Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is causing frustration among players, as it prevents them from accessing the final fireplace in the Maiden Tower. This, in turn, blocks progress by keeping a crucial green door locked.
Many have reported encountering the problem, but there is an official fix at this time. Console players on Xbox and PS5 have no other choice but to reload a previous save before reporting to Van Bergow. On top of that, some players have missed the kitchen fireplaces, which also count for the quest making completing it all more convoluted.
For PC players, however, there is a temporary workaround discovered by the community. By enabling developer mode through Steam’s launch options and using console commands, players can teleport into and out of the blocked room.
To do this, they have to add “-devmode” in the launch options, activate the in-game console using the Tilda key (~), and enter certain teleportation commands. This method won’t touch your save files or Steam achievements; however, only PC players get to use this, so that leaves console users with no alternatives.
The Demons of Trotsky Door Bug
The Demons of Trotsky Door Bug may prevent you from progressing by locking a crucial door. While there’s no official fix, a player-shared workaround for PC users involves enabling cheats and using the console command “goto 2450 2626 219” to teleport into the room, then changing “219” to “215” to exit. Unfortunately, console players don’t have this option and may need to reload a previous save before reporting to Bergrow.
