Confront Otama Or Confront Wakasa Choice in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

In the complex storyline of Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ Sakai plot, the players are brought into a subtle tea ceremony only to find a lethal mercenary hidden among the tranquil setting. The turning point comes when Naoe has to identify the real Golden Teppo by bringing the list of suspects down to Otama and Wakasa. This option, to attack the allegedly innocent Otama or the questionable Wakasa, provides a firm choice with varied consequences, impacting the direction of the game and the process of assassination. While both lead to the same conclusion, the journey one takes essentially alters the experience for the player.

Confront Otama Or Confront Wakasa Choice in The Tea Ceremony

Towards the end of the Sakai arc in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, gamers are presented with a critical choice: whether to attack Otama or Wakasa. Prior to coming to this juncture, they will have had to engage with several NPCs and acquaint themselves with the correct etiquette for a tea ceremony. After the ceremony ends, Naoe gets the revelation that one of the women in attendance is really the Golden Teppo mercenary.

After speaking with all three women at the ceremony, Naoe narrows the suspects down to Otama and Wakasa. While Wakasa is indeed the Golden Teppo, the choice of whom to confront doesn’t ultimately change the final outcome.

Confronting Wakasa is the more straightforward option, keeping you on the main path of the story. At the end of the Tea Party, she suggests handling things quietly and invites you to her home. While exploring her place, you’ll discover the weapon that proves she is the Golden Teppo. She’ll attempt to bargain for her life, but taking her out will complete the assassination. This is the simpler choice, and it’s the one we recommend.

Otama is not the Golden Teppo, and confronting her only makes things more complicated. Terrified for her life, she flees running through the streets, and you must pursue her down and kill her. It is only after her death that you learn she wasn’t the actual target, and it points back to Wakasa. But by this time, Wakasa is already on high alert and has escaped to Osaka Castle. You will then have to sneak into the castle and kill her in the “Defensive Position” mission.
