Glintwood Hollow serves as the starting realm in Eternal Strands, but don’t let its early status fool you—there are plenty of valuable resources to uncover. Each realm experiences weather changes that introduce unique conditions and Epic Encounters, but hidden rest sites scattered throughout the map offer exceptional materials. While Steel is a useful 2-star Regorged Resource in Glintwood Hollow, players can also find Candescite, a 3-star material of the same category, by farming a hidden camp located at the northernmost part of the map. This guide will help you find the best location to farm Candescite and Steel in Eternal Strands.
Eternal Strands: Understanding Resource Types
In Eternal Strands, understanding the types of resources is crucial for effective progression. Here’s a breakdown of Steel and Candescite:
Steel:
- Type: 2-star Reforged Resource.
- Availability: Found in Glintwood Hollow and Dredger’s Mire.
- Usage: Essential for crafting early-game gear and upgrades.
Candescite:
- Type: 3-star Reforged Resource.
- Availability: Requires exploration of hidden spots in Glintwood Hollow and Upper Dynevron
- Usage: Used for crafting higher-tier equipment and enhancements.
Eternal Strands: Best Farming Locations for Steel and Candescite
In Eternal Strands, Glintwood Hollow is a prime location for gathering essential resources like Steel and Candescite. Here’s a guide to help you farm these materials effectively:
Candescite Farming Locations
Candescite is a 3-star Reforged Resource with a Heat nature. It is fairly common in Upper Dynevron, the game’s third realm. However, obtaining it earlier provides a significant advantage against bosses such as Ashpeak Drake or Ark of the Stricken Earth due to its valuable stat boost. Here’s how you can farm for it:
Glintwood Hollow
- Head to the west side of Feller’s Arch on the map, and you should spot an entrance gate to a cave just before reaching the fast travel circle. The gate is blocked by wooden planks, so be sure to break them first.
- Inside the cave, you’ll find an elevator with a torch on its left. To activate the elevator, you need to light the torch with fire. If you’ve progressed to the Dredger’s Mire realm, you can easily do this by shooting a Flame Arrow or using the Drake’s Breath strand.
- However, if you haven’t unlocked either yet, the only option is to use an explosive flower, similar to the ones encountered in the opening mission. Fortunately, a few of these flowers can be found near Feller’s Arch, with one located just beneath the teleport circle.
- To proceed, use the Weaver’s Grasp strand to pick up the explosive flower and carry it inside the cave. Throw it at the torch to ignite it, which will activate the elevator. Ride it down to find two large red ores containing Candescite and Serenite—just remember to break them with a charged attack.
- You can repeat this process by traveling between the Campsite and Glintwood Hollow, as the ores will respawn over time. However, they have a cooldown period, so if you return too quickly, they may not have reappeared yet.
Upper Dynevron
- Candescite is an ore commonly found throughout Upper Dynevron, but the best farming spot is just south of the starter teleport circle.
- It’s best to look for the ores on ledges beside the magic-filled river.
Steel Farming Locations
Steel is a 2-star Forged Resource that, while not ideal for mid-game or late-game upgrades, serves as a reliable starter material. It allows players to reforge their existing equipment and achieve a significant stat boost early on.
Glintwood Hollow
- Glintwood Hollow has two key locations where Steel and Bronze ores consistently spawn. As indicated by the red arrows on the map above, these ores appear on narrow ledges, with three rocks present along each marked arrow.
Dredger’s Mire
- This realm is more hazardous than Glintwood Hollow for farming Steel, but if you still intend to visit, it’s worth exploring the west side of The Akron’s Expanse.
- A large cliff in this area has a few Steel and Bronze ores at its base. In the early game, Steel is one of the best Forged Materials for upgrading weapons and armour, providing a +12 damage boost over the original Sword and Shield. As a neutral ore, it does not affect Cold or Heat resistance.
- In higher-level realms of Eternal Strands, Steel can still be obtained from chests and other sources. However, Steel ores become rarer as they are largely replaced by Serenite and Candescite ores.
Eternal Strands: Effecient Farming Strategies
To efficiently farm Candescite and Steel in Eternal Strands, follow these strategies:
- Target High-Yield Areas: Focus on two key locations in Glintwood Hollow known for consistently spawning Steel and Bronze ores.
- Use Hidden Rest Sites: Take advantage of hidden rest sites scattered throughout the realm to replenish resources and extend farming sessions without returning to main hubs.
- Adapt to Weather Conditions: Pay attention to dynamic weather changes, as they can impact resource availability and enemy behavior. Adjust your farming routes accordingly to maintain efficiency.
- Manage Inventory Wisely: Regularly check your inventory to ensure you have enough space for valuable materials. Store or discard less essential items to maximize resource collection.
By following these strategies, you can optimize your farming efforts, ensuring a steady supply of materials for crafting and progression in Eternal Strands.
