Avowed Splinter of Eothas Choice Guide

Dealing with the moral dilemma of Avowed puts players in a difficult decision regarding the Splinter of Eothas. This guide analyzes the consequences of your decision, focusing on your interactions with Sargamis and the mysterious “Voice.” Depending on whether you decide to help Sargamis, deny him completely, or take a third, destructive route, your actions will have a dramatic effect on the ending of the game, especially in regards to the Voice and the Living Lands. This guide will be teaching you the implications of every decision, ranging from gaining unique items to the ultimate liberation of a strong being.

Splinter of Eothas Choice in Avowed

Alright, so you’ve got the relic, and you’re back with Sargamis. You can just go along with his plan, put the Splinter in the statue, and pull the lever. Surprise, surprise, it doesn’t work. Sargamis is super bummed.

Now you’ve got a choice: you can either try to talk him down, tell him to give up on his crazy scheme, or, if you’re feeling less diplomatic (and let’s be honest, he is trying to suck souls), you can just fight him. If you win, he drops a cool sword called Last Light of Day. (But remember, you can get it without fighting him too!)

No matter what you do with Sargamis, that creepy voice in your head will chime in before you leave. You can also chat with it directly by interacting with the nearby Adra stone. It’ll tell you it wants to use the statue to walk around in the real world, but it needs time to clear out the statue’s “essence.”

This choice doesn’t have immediate effects. You’ll only see the consequences at the end of the game if you decide to free Sapadal. If you do, you’ll get to roam around the Living Lands as the statue, which is pretty wild.

Give the Splinter of Eothas to Sargamis

Okay, so you’ve met Sargamis, and he’s got this plan to fix a broken statue using a splinter and, well, some questionable logic. If you try to help him by putting the splinter in, it’s not going to go as he expects.

You’ll have a choice: either try to talk some sense into him, or just fight him. Talking him down is definitely possible, and if you’re good at noticing things (Perception 2) and thinking things through (Intellect 3 or 4), you can convince him his plan is a dud. Luckily, you can change your character’s skills for some gold, so if you know you’re about to have a chat that needs smarts, you can temporarily boost those stats.

If you manage to get through to him, Sargamis will realize he messed up. You can then guide him towards making amends, and later, you can find him and get his sword.

However, if you decide to keep helping Sargamis, he’ll convince himself he just needs a “chime” to make the statue work – which, surprise, surprise, turns out to be you! He wants to sacrifice you.

He’ll lead you to this scary-looking machine and basically tell you it’s a death trap. And he’s not kidding. Definitely save your game here. If you stand under it, you’re toast. You’ll get an achievement for it, but, you know, you’ll be dead. So, weigh your options carefully.

Don’t give the Splinter of Eothas to Sargamis

Okay, so you’re standing there, and neither Sargamis nor the mysterious “Voice” sound like particularly great company. You’re thinking, “Is there a ‘none of the above’ option?” Turns out, there is!

You can basically blow the whole thing up. There are three generators around the temple, and if you activate them all, you’ll overload the statue. This will make the Voice very angry, and Sargamis will probably try to fight you. Plus, it stops the Voice from getting loose at the end of the game.

Now, if you’re already planning on keeping the Voice locked up, this choice doesn’t really change much in the long run.

But here’s the thing: putting the Splinter of Eothas into the statue is actually the best option for gameplay reasons. Especially if you’re thinking about letting the Voice go later. It’s also the only way to get Sargamis’s cool sword, the “Last Light of Day,” without a fight.

Honestly, there aren’t any real downsides to placing the Splinter. If you don’t, everyone gets mad at you.

Even though Sargamis might be a jerk, you can actually convince him to change his ways and do something good. So, it’s worth thinking about whether you want to destroy the statue or let the Voice take it over. It really comes down to what you want to achieve by the end of the game, and whether you’re willing to give Sargamis a chance to redeem himself.
