Avowed ‘Forged of Star-Stuff’ Quest Walkthrough

The “Forged of Star-Stuff” quest in Avowed is a journey to craft powerful weapons from a rare and volatile material called Starmetal. This quest begins automatically when you discover your first Fragment of Starmetal, often found early in the game near the Godless Altar in Dawnshore. There, you’ll find Forgemaster Dela, the only smith capable of working with Starmetal. He’ll offer you a choice: a sword or an arquebus. This guide will walk you through the quest, including where to find Starmetal, how to reach Dela, and the pros and cons of each weapon, helping you make the best decision for your Envoy build.

How to Start the Forged of Star-Stuff

In the game Avowed, you’ll automatically start the “Forged In Starmetal” quest when you discover your first piece of Starmetal. At first, you might be stumped about what to do with it. You’ll need to advance quite a bit in the game until you reach Solace Keep in Galawain’s Tusks. Only then can you find a blacksmith skilled enough to work with the tricky Starmetal. Once you find one, you get to choose what kind of Starmetal weapon you want, and that choice depends on how you’re developing your character.

You can find a piece of Starmetal while exploring the Dawnshore area, specifically near the Southern Embrace. If you happen to find the Godless Altar on your way to the Emerald Stair Gatehouse, that’s where you’ll find the Starmetal Fragment.

To complete the “Forged in Starmetal” quest, you need to find Forgemaster Dela. He’s located in Solace Keep, which is in Galawain’s Tusks. This area is one of the last places you’ll explore before the game’s ending, so even if you find the Starmetal early, you won’t be able to use it until much later in the game. Dela is in the Main Hall of Solace Keep, down the steps at the back. Talk to him and mention the Starmetal. He’ll get really excited and start talking about it. You can listen to everything he has to say, or you can cut him short – it doesn’t affect the quest. After his enthusiastic outburst, he’ll give you a choice: a Starmetal sword or a Starmetal arquebus.

What to Forge With the Starmetal

Forgemaster Dela offers you a choice: turn your Starmetal into either a sword or an arquebus. Both are excellent weapons for this stage of the game, so it really depends on how you like to play. If you prefer ranged combat, the Moonstrike Arquebus packs a serious punch. If you’re more of a melee fighter, the Meteor Blade sword is a solid and dependable choice.

The good news is that there are more Starmetal fragments hidden throughout the Living Lands, so you’re not limited to just one weapon. You can actually find enough to get both the sword and the arquebus. Plus, you can use extra Starmetal fragments to upgrade whichever weapon you choose, making it even more powerful.

Choosing between the sword and the arquebus really depends on your playstyle. If you prefer close-quarters combat, go for the sword. If you like to fight from a distance, the arquebus is the better choice. You can actually find enough Starmetal to get both weapons eventually, and both can be upgraded. Just be aware that upgrading a weapon means you lose the original version, so choose wisely! To help you decide, here’s a look at the stats for each:

    Meteor Blade (First Sword)

    • Physical Damage: 120
    • Stun: 100
    • Stamina Cost: 11
    • Critical Hit Chance: 3%

Decided that degrees were as useful as extra lives in a Mario game-totally unnecessary! I’m diving into the extravagant universe of my favourite game, Assassin’s Creed, which lets me roam the world without actually paying for plane tickets. Hodophile by nature and aspiring to get lost in Hang Sơn Đoòng cave in Vietnam someday!
