When you first open your inventory in Avowed and examine the slots beside your character, you’ll see up to three accessory slots: one for amulets or trinkets and two for rings. You can equip a ring on each hand, and these accessories can be discovered throughout The Living Lands.
Each accessory in Avowed grants one or more special effects that remain active as long as it is equipped. The best part is that these items have no weight in your backpack, allowing you to collect as many as you want and swap them freely at any time. This guide will help you locate the Bitter Bonding Ring, a powerful accessory hidden within The Living Lands, ensuring you can take full advantage of its unique benefits.
How to Find Bitter Bonding in Avowed
The Bitter Bonding accessory is a ring loosely connected to a side quest in Avowed, though it isn’t explicitly named. Shantytown, situated south of Paradis, serves as the slums of Dawnshore. Near one of the grates in the murky waters beneath the bridges, you’ll find an NPC searching for a ring.
Speak to him and you’ll receive the task of finding the ring for the NPC in Shantytown. You can find the wedding ring, Bitter Bonding, located behind the NPC, to the left, near a rectangular crate. Although surrounded by rotten food and other discarded items, the ring is easy to spot just a few steps back.
Bitter Bonding is a unique and visually striking ring valued at 150 coins. It also grants the following effect, visible in Avowed’s inventory menu: 1% of your Attack Damage is restored as Health. You can choose to equip and keep the ring or return it to the Paradis Citizen. If you select the dialogue option “How much is this ring worth to you?”, you’ll receive 100 Coins as a reward.
Note: When it comes to ring accessories, you’ll find roughly the same number as amulets and trinkets, but you can equip twice as many on your character.
Advantage of Keeping the Bitter Bonding Ring
Given its unique effect and the relatively low reward for returning it in Avowed, it’s best to keep Bitter Bonding and add it to your gear. It’s a valuable ring to hold onto, as it restores a small percentage of HP with every attack.
While the 1% health restoration from attack damage may seem minor, at this early stage of the game—when your accessory options are limited—it provides a valuable advantage. Moreover, if you later find better gear to replace it, you can still sell the Bitter Bonding wedding ring elsewhere for 150 coins—significantly more than the reward for returning it to its rightful owner.
