In the main quest “Ancient Soil” in Avowed, you’ll travel to Naku Tedek with Giatta, located in the southwest of Fior mes Iverno, within the wilds of Emerald Stair. Once there, head to the Animancy Equipment inside the Naku Tedek tower, following the objective marker to guide your way. As you interact with the equipment, you’ll have several dialogue options with Giatta. Afterward, a cutscene will play, revealing a door that opens to your next destination.
Explore of Naku Tedek
Start your exploration of Naku Tedek with Giatta by following the objective marker until you come across a hole with a tree branch leading down. Before jumping down, make sure to jump across to the other side and interact with what’s stuck on the tree trunk to obtain the Eye of Rymrgand.
Once you have done that, go ahead and descend into the hole and continue following the marker until you enter a room filled with Sporeling Corruptors and Sporeling Bruisers. Defeat the enemies and then use Giatta to activate a generator switch on the wall, which will open the door to the next area.
In the next room, you will find the floor covered in damaging water. To progress, burn the branches to your left, jump across to open a chest containing two Tanned Hides and Binding Copper, and take note of Magran’s Blessing on the wall.
Fight Scourge Skeletons and Barbarians
Afterward, freeze the water in front of the wall sculpture to create a platform to jump onto. From there, jump towards the wall where there’s a safe section near the mushroom wall to land on.
Once you have safely reached the next platform, jump to the left to enter another room. Here, you’ll need to fight Scourge Skeleton Chanters and Barbarians. Be cautious of the Barbarian’s attacks, as they can be very dangerous. Attack only when it’s open and back away to avoid its strikes.
Battle Spectres and Greater Calamity Blight
After clearing the enemies, open the door to proceed and head down the stairs, where you’ll encounter water filled with electricity. Use your ice ability again to create platforms to safely cross, avoiding the risk of electrocution. You’ll also find another Eye of Rymrgand on the wall as you make your way through.
On the other side, activate a generator switch in front of a table to continue your journey. If you’re up for a challenge, head into the next room to pick up the Giant’s Slumber weapon, which will trigger an enemy event.
You will face Spectres and Greater Calamity Blight, who can be tough due to their area-of-effect attacks and ability to summon Skeletons. It’s recommended to use the Barrier ability for extra protection as you deal with these enemies.
Boss Cylia and Her Minions
Proceed to the final room, where you’ll face the boss Cylia and its minions. Start by taking out Cylia’s minions, being cautious of their AoE attacks, which are marked by red circles. Focus on defeating the Xaurip Shaman first, then work through the other minions before tackling the boss. The key strategy is to play it safe by attacking and then backing off, repeating this pattern until all enemies are defeated.
Sapadal’s Power: Accept or Reject
Head to the end of the room where you’ll encounter The Voice, who will reveal herself as Sapadal. During your conversation, you’ll be presented with a choice: to either accept or reject Sapadal’s power. Your decision will lead to different outcomes, depending on which path you choose.
If you choose to accept Sapadal’s power, you will gain the Thorn of Sapadal ability. This active ability allows you to fire a thorn of energy that passes through multiple enemies, dealing damage and incapacitating them. It costs 30 Essence to use, lasts for 3 seconds, and has a 30-second cooldown.
Conversely, if you decline Sapadal’s offer, you will get the Godlike’s Will. This is a passive ability that gives you an extra ability point, which you can spend in either the Fighter, Ranger, or Wizard skill trees, and this allows you to have greater freedom when upgrading your character’s skills.
Return to Fior mes Iverno and Search for Survivors
After the cutscenes and dialogue, your next task is to return to Fior mes Iverno. However, once you step outside Naku Tedek, you’ll be shocked to find the town is burning. Your first priority is to search for survivors by following the objective marker. Along the way, you’ll encounter Steel Garrote Soldiers and survivors lying on the ground. You can choose to either fight these enemies or take the opportunity to loot items.
Deciding the Survivors’ Fate: Paradis or Thirdborn
Keep following the marker until you reach the Abandoned Farms, where most of the survivors have gathered. Once there, you’ll meet Yatzli, Pere, and Ignasi, who will discuss where the survivors should relocate. You’ll need to decide between sending them to Paradis or Thirdborn, as this choice will impact the ending of the game.
If you choose Paradis, Governor Ignasi Vidarro will suggest that the survivors go there. Though controlled by the Aedyrans, he believes hiding in plain sight is their best chance of survival, convincing the Aedyrans that the people of Fior mes Iverno are defeated.
On the other hand, if you choose Thirdborn, Pere will argue that, although the Dreamscourge will likely destroy the island, it’s still a place where the survivors can practice Animancy, and they can make a stand there. If you accept Sapadal’s power, you’ll gain the Thorn of Sapadal ability, but if you reject it, you’ll receive Godlike’s Will instead.
