As you wander through the large world of Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon, you’ll come across all sorts of enemies—most of them just along for the ride. But occasionally, you’ll meet someone a bit… unusual. One of them early on is Abigor, a heavy-armored guy who has a bone to pick and some tale to share.
Where to Find Abigor
Once you’re in the Horns of the South, take a walk west. A short distance from the keep, you’ll come upon a collapsed gate. Continue on until you see a destroyed marketplace. Sitting there alone with only a lantern for a companion is a knight who’s obviously not there for sightseeing.
Speak to him, and you’ll get some hints about his history—he used to serve a noblewoman, fought faithfully, and lived for a cause. But what now? He’s out of work, alone, and searching for one final honorable fight. He challenges you to a duel, stating that he will give you an “honorable death.”
So, Should You Fight Him?
Absolutely—if you feel confident. Abigor is not your typical sword-swinging grunt. He’s hard, precise, and has enchanted equipment that makes the battle feel like a true test. But if you can defeat him, the reward is good.
Rushing in with melee attacks? Not a great idea—he’s built like a fortress. Your best option is to remain mobile, utilize ranged weapons such as throwing knives (some will hit, some won’t), and employ magic. Calling upon allies to keep him busy or stealing some of his health while keeping your stamina in check can give you the upper hand.
What You Get for Winning
After you defeat him, you’ll be given some decent early-game gear:
- Duel Knight Armor – it looks awesome, packs a hard punch (on your stamina bar too—it’s heavy)
- Honorary Blade – his glowing red sword
- Duel Shield – solid and magical
Stripping him of his armor shows something a bit more somber—he was infected with the Red Death. That probably accounts for his being alone and wanting a final fight. In a strange way, taking him down might’ve been the only kindness left to offer.
