Goron City 100% Walkthrough
The Goron City in “The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time” is an rocky city constructed within the Death Mountain. This is where the Gorons live along with their chief named Darunia. While you go around exploring the city, you will get to collect various useful items.
Reach Goron City

Proceed straight along the main trail at Death Mountain Trail. The first time you encounter a sudden twist, you will see a giant rock blocking one entry point. That entry point leads to Dodongo’s Cave, but you cannot enter that entry point just yet. Move on without entering and climb up the mountain. You will find an entry point to the left in no time. Enter to get to Goron City.
Play Zelda’s Lullaby

Once you have gotten into Goron City, head for the bottom floor. You will see a door marked with the Triforce symbol. Step on this symbol and play Zelda’s Lullaby to open the door. Inside, you will encounter Darunia. In a brief scene cutaway, you will learn that he is upset and will not be able to help you unless you make him happy. You need to get to Saria in the Lost Woods and learn her song.
Play Saria’s Song

There is a possibility to get a shortcut to Lost Woods before leaving Goron City. First, set fire to a Deku Stick by the help of a torch in Darunia’s room. Climb upstairs and burn the Bomb Flower that is on the wall. With the explosion, you will be able to get rid of the stones blocking the door in front of you.
Now follow the shortcut and go to the Lost Woods. This area is full of clearings connected via hollowed-out tree trunks. Choosing the wrong way will bring you back to Kokiri Forest. But thanks to the music, you will be able to find your way. Just listen carefully to the Saria’s song becoming loud when you’re walking in the right direction. Also, there are green musical notes glowing in the tunnels. Before going into the Lost Woods, choose the wrong exit and go back to Kokiri Forest. There are two Gold Skulltulas you can gather here.
Piece of Heart #1

Go back into the Lost Woods and take the path to the right at the entrance. You will find yourself in the room where there is a target suspended from a tree branch and a Deku Scrub standing next to it. Now you need to have the Fairy Slingshot ready and shoot the target. In order to be rewarded with a better Deku Seed Bag, which will increase the number of seeds you can carry up to 40, you need to shoot the target three times hitting its very center each time.

While you are in this room, drop to the lower part of it. There you will find two Skull Kids playing their flutes while sitting on the stumps of trees. Stand on a stump near them and get your Ocarina. They will play some tune for you, which you should repeat after them. Every round the tune will become longer by adding one more note. Complete nine rounds successfully and get your Piece of Heart.
Gold Skulltula #1

Go to the rear of the structure, which is south of the exit that leads out to Hyrule Field. Ensure that it is nighttime when searching for the Gold Skulltula. If it is still day, play the Sun’s Song to change the time. You’ll find the Gold Skulltula on the back wall of the building. Defeat it and collect the Token.
Gold Skulltula #2

Secondly, check out the Soft Soil Patch which is located behind the building near the exit from Great Deku Tree. You need to use a Bug in a Bottle at the patch to make a Gold Skulltula pop up. Kill it and get the next Token.
Gold Skulltula #3

Return to the Lost Woods entrance once more and follow this route:
Right > Left > Right > Left > Left
You’ll reach a room with two flower enemies shooting at you. Look toward the back of the room to find another Soft Soil Spot. Use a Bug in a Bottle to reveal the Gold Skulltula. Defeat it and collect the Token.
Open Dodongo’s Cavern

Get out of Goron City and you will notice a Bomb Flower at the right corner of the fence. Grab it and toss it to the other side of the fence, towards the big rock that blocks the entrance to Dodongo’s Cavern. This will explode and break the rock, allowing you to enter the cavern.
Gold Skulltula #4

Before heading into Dodongo’s Cavern, check behind the rock that you have just blasted. There will be another Soft Soil Spot here. Drop a Bug in a Bottle to summon a Gold Skulltula. Defeat the Gold Skulltula to obtain its Token. This is all that you should be collecting in Goron City and Lost Woods at this point. Now you can move onto Dodongo’s Cavern.
