There are six types of classes in Wardogs, and each one is based on a unique style of play. Unlike in many other games, you do not select a class before going into battle, as the type of class depends on the equipment and vehicle that you are using in battle. Here is everything you need to know about all six classes and how they work.
All Classes Explained
Wardogs offer six different XP progression paths, such as Medic and Pilot. You do not select a class at the start of the game. Rather, your class advancement is dictated by the weapons, equipment, and vehicles that you use in battle. Before each life begins, you spend money to buy your gear. Therefore, your class is defined by what you acquire and use.
Assault
Fighting is the main combat track in Wardogs. You get experience points when killing opponents with weapons, and most of the infantry weapons can be used for the Assault class. Therefore, it is the class that you will be levelling as you fight enemy soldiers.
It also provides you with the maximum experience points per action. But it also has a few drawbacks; dying in this class will take away all the equipment currently in your hands. You can unlock different weapons as you level up in this class. GALIL can be unlocked at level 10, M4 at level 20, and FAL at level 35.
Medic
The Medic class is about keeping your squad members alive when you’re in combat. This class can be leveled up by healing wounded teammates, reviving fallen teammates, and using SMGs. If you enjoy being helpful to your team as opposed to just looking out for kills, this is definitely one of the classes that you will enjoy levelling up.
Healing and reviving your teammates can help you earn a lot of XP and cash. A base bandage heal awards you 80 XP and $400, and it doesn’t require your teammates to be knocked down. This makes healing the most efficient way of earning XP points.
You will earn $100-$900 from reviving your teammates. The MP5 unlocks at Level 15 while the Super-45 unlocks at Level 35. You will find the weapons required for this class under Medical.
Support
The support class will assist your team in establishing and retaining its position. Some of the skills that help you level this class are fortifications, construction, repair of structures, and using certain weapons like LMGs, shotguns, and launchers.
Construction is one of the best ways of earning XP, since there are different bonuses at different stages of building. Each hammer swing provides 1 XP, a strike on the marked construction point yields 4 XP, and finishing off a structure yields 15 XP.
The purchase of supply crates or providing your teammates with supplies yields 25 XP each. As you progress with the Support class, you will unlock M500 at Level 10, M249 SAW at Level 15, and PKM at Level 30.
Recon
The Recon class allows you two different ways of playing the game. You can become a sniper, stay in the back, hold good angles, and kill your enemies from afar. Also, you can be a scout, move around the edges of the battlefield, and use binoculars or a monocular to detect enemy vehicles and positions. The sniper rifle and marksman rifle give you some experience towards levelling up your Recon.
Also, you can get some Recon XP just by spotting enemies for your squad. Whenever one of your teammates kills an enemy that you spotted, you will be rewarded with Spot Assist without even dealing damage yourself.
There are no confirmed numbers about how much XP and cash you can earn by Spot Assist, so it’s hard to compare the progress of the Recon class to the other classes. By reaching Level 19, Level 25, Level 30, and Level 35, you will be able to get SV98, MK22, BMR-308, and AMR 50 respectively.
Driver
Driver specialisation involves using ground vehicles to move teammates and equipment through the battlefield. Your primary role is to safely deliver your team to the Control Zone, but combat with vehicles can also assist in leveling the class.
Delivery of a teammate to the Control Zone earns you 50 XP and $300-$450. In addition, an additional 50 XP and $500 are awarded if the teammate survives 10 seconds after being removed from the vehicle. The kills you score while using a ground vehicle contribute to Driver rather than Assault.
Using the L2A6 tank once it is unlocked at Level 35 is one of the quickest ways to level this class; however, it makes you more vulnerable to enemies during combat. Unlocking the Ural is possible at Level 4, while the L2A6 tank can be unlocked at Level 35.
Pilot
Pilot is similar to Driver, except that you move your team members and supplies via helicopter rather than using ground vehicles. This class can be useful for fast transportation of your squad across the battlefield, but at the same time, you have to be careful, as the crash of your helicopter with several team members will cost you dearly.
You can gain Pilot levels by flying the helicopters and performing transport or supply missions. Dropping a large supply pallet in the Control Zone provides you with 750 XP, which is the highest confirmed amount of XP for one operation in Wardogs.
A small supply crate rewards you with 250 XP, and air transport of team members grants you the same delivery XP as in the Driver class. UH-1Y helicopter becomes unlocked for you at Level 10.
Which Class to Pick
The class you are more attuned to will depend mainly on your progression. Most classes can be leveled up as you unlock more items required for that particular class and use it on the field. The easiest class to pick if you don’t want to think too much about progression is the Support class, as anything you do in and around the FOB will count towards its progression.
But if you are on a budget, then you can go for Medics or Recon, since their kits don’t require a lot of equipment. The risks associated with these classes can be a bit more than other classes, so that’s something to keep in mind. Otherwise, if you enjoy playing in the frontlines, then the Assault class or any of the vehicular controlling classes might be for you.
