Hexapod will be one of the more challenging bosses you’ll have to fight in Mortal Shell 2 once you get to its final form. The boss has many attacks that can surprise you, but the battle will be far easier if you know when to attack and when to evade. In this guide, we’ll show you where to find Hexapod, the build that works well against it, and how to deal with each phase of the fight.
Hexapod Location

Hexapod is located in Withered Shoals. Start at the Nameless Pass Beacon and take the path close to it in the area. Continue on the way, and you will get to the Hexapod boss battle arena.
Recommended Build
This Genessa build with Black Needle will be very helpful if you have issues fighting against Hexapod. As for the build components, Genessa is the most significant among them, particularly due to the fact that she can duplicate herself. If you don’t like Genessa, you can also use Tiel here. Perfect dodge from Tiel is particularly helpful as it gives you temporary invisibility.
For the relic, use Moonshine because it helps build up the charge needed to summon the duplicates. Also use Grisha Remnant as a passive. For your abilities, focus on upgrades that improve your ranged stagger and critical chance. It is not mandatory to take them, but these upgrades may make the fight against the boss easier. Also, it would be helpful to upgrade your first blade and crossbow if it is possible.
How to beat Hexapod Boss Fight

Use your crossbow early in order to get some early damage done. Once you get a few strikes done using your sword, the bullets of your ranged weapon will be recharged, and you can use them for attacking again. The moment you see the shell open up, stop attacking and be prepared to dodge. Instead of dodging forward and backwards, try to dodge to the left or to the right.
Hexapod consists of three stages, and there is a possibility to stagger the boss to perform a critical hit twice in one battle. Keep an eye on the boss’s health bar. When it reaches the required point, Hexapod will stagger and give you an opportunity to land a critical hit. After each critical hit, the boss moves into a new phase, and its attacks change.
First and Second Phase
The first two stages are pretty straightforward. Only attack once the Hexapod closes its shell, then dodge roll to either the left or right if it starts opening up. If you roll forward or backwards, the Hexapod tentacles can still reach you. You will have plenty of time to strike if you go around the boss, since the Hexapod would need to turn itself to be able to hit you.
When you have yourself positioned correctly, you should be able to make several strikes while the shell is still closed. If you perform a perfect dodge with the Tiel Shell, you’ll briefly become invisible. Use this opportunity to move around to the boss’s side or back and continue attacking.
You can also continue hitting it with your sidearm to stun it briefly. After that, you can quickly go in and perform CRIT attacks to bring its health down even further. This will also commence the next stage of the fight, which offers different attack patterns.
Third Phase
Phase three is where things become more challenging. Hexapod gains several new attacks, so it’s better to play more carefully instead of rushing in. The biggest thing to watch out for is the bone piles around the arena. Avoid battling when you have your back facing those piles since it could be hard for you to avoid getting hit. Always stay close to the middle of the arena.
How to Avoid the Ranged Attack

In the third stage of battle, Hexapod has the ability to use a ranged attack. Once it starts this attack, get slightly away from it and spam the dodge button. Do not try to parry this attack as well; just dodge continuously and move either to the right or left side until the attack ends.
But do not move very far from Hexapod. Because once you create too much distance between yourself and Hexapod, it will dive underwater and attack you in a different direction very rapidly. But after this attack, it will usually use its wide-open attack.
How to Avoid the Underwater Attack
The Hexapod may also go underwater during the third phase. In such a case, unlock yourself from the boss and face away from him. Then start running while pressing the dodge button continuously.
Though it may seem awkward to face away from the boss, it is actually easier to dodge the attack this way. Continue doing that until Hexapod reemerges from the water. At this point, lock yourself back on the boss and resume attacking him. All you have to be careful about is not going too far away from the boss.
Hexapod Rewards
After defeating Hexapod, you’ll receive:

You will also unlock the “Something in the deep…” achievement for defeating the boss.
