The Mountain Fortress Bookshelf Puzzle is the key to unlock the hidden door that lets you reach the Focus Stone during Chapter 3. Instead of guessing and trying to figure out the combination, you can simply look for a clue that is located in the dining room you traversed through to reach the bookshelf puzzle room. This guide walks you through reaching the library area, where to look for the clue and the correct sequence to interact with the bookshelves so that the hidden passage opens smoothly.
Path to the Library
Inside the Mountain Fortress, after entering take a right turn to reach a room with stairs. Follow the stairs up to the next level until you arrive at a dining room, then go through the dining room and head left to reach the Library.
Bookshelf Puzzle
When you first reach the Library, it may look like a dead end but there is a hidden entrance through the fireplace, which can be unlocked by solving the hidden mechanism. To solve the puzzle, you need to interact with the bookshelves in a particular sequence.
Finding Clues
If you backtrack to the dining room, you’ll notice that there’s a big painting on the wall. If you inspect closely, the picture is about the food chain that represents the following creatures – Swampshark > Wolf > Molerat, which is the clue that we need to solve the bookshelf puzzle.
Solving the Puzzle
Go back to the library and interact with the 3 bookshelves shown in the painting – Swampshark, Wolf and Molerat. Be sure to follow the food chain order shown by the painting so the mechanism activates correctly.
Once you solve the bookshelf puzzle, it will activate the mechanism and trigger the hidden passage. After that, the route behind the fireplace becomes accessible.
