New Souls for the Brotherhood is one of the quests that you will have to do in order to gain the trust of the Brotherhood in the Gothic 1 Remake. In this quest, you will be asked by Baal Tondral to find a new brother at the Old Camp and take him to the Swamp Camp. While the objective is very simple, you will need to talk to the right characters, make the correct dialogue choices, and spend some Ore Nuggets to complete it successfully. This guide will show you how to recruit Dusty for the Brotherhood.
New Souls For The Brotherhood Quest
Baal Tondral can be found delivering his sermon to some Novices close to the blacksmith at the southeast corner of the Camp. After finishing his speech and talking with you, select the dialogue choice “How can I prove myself to you?” to begin the quest “New Souls for the Brotherhood”.
In this quest, Baal Tondral will ask you to persuade one of the residents of the Old Camp to join the Brotherhood. Make sure to carry 100 Ore Nuggets before embarking on this quest, since you will require them to bribe a guard so that Dusty is able to leave the Old Camp without any hindrance. If you find difficulty in deciding whom to recruit for the Brotherhood, you should go to Melvin and converse with him.
When talking to him, make sure to select the dialogue option “I’m guessing you used to be a digger?” In the course of the conversation, Melvin will share some information with you concerning his old friend called Dusty, and then he will advise you to get this man on board for the Brotherhood cause. At the end of the conversation, you will receive an update to your quest journal.
Recruiting Dusty
Go to the Old Camp and find Dusty there. During evenings, you can usually find him sitting and listening to Baal Parvez’s preaching somewhere in the Market near the South Gate.
Approach Dusty and offer him membership in the Brotherhood. While talking to him, mention that Melvin is doing great. This will make him agree to leave the Old Camp and become a member of the Brotherhood. There is just one last thing left: you will have to bribe the guard at the South Gate with 100 Ore Nuggets, which will make him allow Dusty to leave the camp.
Once you have obtained all 100 Ore Nuggets, travel to the South Gate of the Old Camp, where you will find the camp situated close to the collapsed tower. While talking to the guards here, be very careful of your response. Never talk rudely or tell the guard about Dusty going to the Swamp Camp, since the guards here will not like you.
Once you are done bribing the guards and pass through them, you just have to escort Dusty to the Swamp Camp. Once you are at the Swamp Camp, take Dusty to Baal Tondral and talk to him. He will not think too much of your recruit, but he will still approve of what you have chosen.
