While playing with Gothic 1 Remake, you may find a locked box in the Broken Tower close to the stairway. This box can only be unlocked through a puzzle involving plates. Although not easy to figure out, when done correctly, it unlocks a box full of useful items. This guide will show you how to reach the Broken Tower, solve the puzzle, and get your rewards.
How To Get The Crude Sword
Start at the south gate of the Old Camp and go along the route to the west until you get to the path that leads to the territory of the Orcs. From here, go until you find a split path. Choose the eastern one, which can easily be found because it will have a broken fence on the right side and some crushed boxes on the left side. By continuing along this road, you will reach the Broken Tower. There, find the first chest at the bottom of the staircase and solve the puzzle by completing these steps:
- Select the second plate and shift it left four times.
- Shift to the fifth plate and move it to the right six times.
- Then shift the sixth plate left four times.
- Again, return to the second plate and shift it left five times.
- Shift the fifth plate to the right five times.
- Shift the third plate to the right three times.
- Finally, shift the fourth plate to the right three times.
- Select the first plate and shift it left one time.
- Shift the sixth plate left one time.
If you’re using Xbox, press the D-Pad Left and D-Pad Right buttons when you need to move a plate in any of the directions. Once you’ve opened the first chest, you will have access to various helpful items. These are a Crude Sword that is used to fight with enemies, a Fire Bolt Spell which allows you to use fire attacks, and a Withered Axe that can serve as another weapon. You also get 7 Arrows that will help in long-range attacks and 26 Ore Nuggets.
