If you want to open Santino’s Chest in Gothic 1 Remake, then you will have to find it in the Old Mine and solve its plate combination puzzle. This chest can be found in a shack close to it, and it has a good amount of Ore Nuggets. In this guide, we will show you where to find Santino’s chest, the correct lockpicking sequence, and the rewards once you open it.
How To Unlock Santino’s Chest

Santino’s locked chest is located inside a little shack near the character Santino, who can be found in the area called the Old Mine. Enter the mine and proceed to search for a guard standing before the bridge that connects the mine to Santino’s zone.
Once you find the guard, find the little shack that is located just beside the guard, which is identified by an open door on its right side. Walk into the hut and turn left to find the chest there. The steps to unlocking Santino’s chest are as follows:
- Move the second plate six times to the left.
- After that, move the third plate six times to the right.
- Move the fourth plate three times to the right.
- Move the second plate three times further to the left.
- Lastly, move the fifth plate three times to the right.
If you are using the controller to do so, pressing the D-Pad Left makes the plate move left, while pressing the D-Pad Right moves the plate right. Once you have used the correct sequence, the chest will unlock itself, and you can take out the items inside.
Once you have unlocked Santino’s chest, you will get 33 Ore Nuggets from there. While the reward isn’t anything rare or unique, it’s still a nice amount of ore to collect, especially in the early stages of the game when every nugget can be useful for trading and buying equipment.
