The Soil, The Seed, The Fruit is a main story quest in Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred that takes the player into The Mind’s Eye, where they explore Mephisto’s memories alongside Lilith. The Soil, The Seed, The Fruit
The Soil, The Seed, The Fruit is one of the important story quests in Diablo 4. This quest starts in the Ruins of Broken Reason in Skovos. At the end of the quest “A Door Was Opened,” you need to put the Sightless Eye on the pedestal in Ruins of Broken Reason.
The moment you complete that task, The Soil, The Seed, The Fruit begins. Once you have the sightless eye placed on the pedestal, interact with it to go back to The Mind’s Eye. Follow the path to the quest marker, killing some Abomination enemies on your way.
Once you have arrived at the quest marker, Mephisto summons some enemies again, trying to prevent you from going further. Kill them all to survive the ambush, then talk to Lilith, and learn that it was possible due to the connection between her and Mephisto.
Reading Fragments of Memory
Speak to Lilith again, and interact with the Fragments of Memory near her to unlock one of Mephisto’s memories. Interact with the fragment and talk to Lilith again to complete the mission. When asked whether you are leaving, respond to her by saying that you aren’t leaving.
Lilith will take you through Mephisto’s memories. Just follow her until you find other Fragments of Memory at the end of the path. Again, interact with the fragments to unlock the next stage of the mission. After that, use the chains nearby to open the way deeper into The Mind’s Eye. To do this, stand within the highlighted area around each chain until the progress bar fills completely. Once the path opens, continue to the next part of the quest.
Once the path opens, move forward and interact with the Fragments of Memory and the Memories of Mephisto you find along the way. These memories reveal more of the story as you continue deeper into The Mind’s Eye.
When you find a different chain, enter into the marked area near the device, and wait until the progress bar becomes full. This will open a new road for you. Go along the road and find the Memory of Sankekur. Examine this item, and talk to Lilith. During your conversation, ask her what Mephisto hopes to gain from all of his plans to continue the quest.
From there, continue walking along the quest to reach another Fragment of Memory, which will tell you about the memory of Queen Adreona. Examine her spirit and proceed further with the story.
When the scene comes to an end, go towards the northwest direction with Lilith, killing all enemy units encountered during your journey. The road will eventually divide into two paths, and take the one leading toward the southeast direction to its end. Interact with another Fragment of Memory in order to break the barrier.
Continue along the newly opened path and follow Lilith until you reach the Memory of Inarius, who is chained inside the Pit of Mirrors. Speak with him, and Lilith will begin questioning him about what he knows.
Fighting Inarius
Following that, Inarius will break free of his restraints and attack. This will start a boss fight. There will be some moments in the fight during which Inarius will become invincible, making him impossible to hurt. When this occurs, go to the chain mechanisms and stand near them until the progress bar fills. By doing this, Inarius’ invincibility will be over, allowing you to continue fighting. Once Inarius is defeated, talk to him about what he said to Mephisto. Then, talk to Lilith once more.
In order to proceed with the quest, you need to use the Fragments of Memory in order to enter further into Mephisto’s memories. After entering, make your way to the end of the path in order to see Lilith’s vision of Mephisto performing his ritual, draining her children of their life force.
Once the vision ends, use the portal to exit the area. Talk to Lilith once more before returning to Sanctuary via the Sightless Eye. After returning to Ruins of Broken Reason, The Soil, The Seed, The Fruit will be completed.
