The shield already has Refinement Level 3, so it does not require any further effort to make it effective. With additional Defence +3, you will be able to get increased protection above the shield’s innate defence value. In addition, the shield’s Damage Reduction will help reduce the damage received during each battle.

North Wind Shield Location in Crimson Desert
Go north and visit the Pailune region of Wayward Woods. Go further west to reach the Abyss Nexus. At this point, face east, and you will see a huge tree next to you.
Go near the huge tree and activate Nature’s Grasp on it. While doing so, make sure to hold down the Space bar to increase speed and explore the vicinity. As soon as you approach the tree, you will notice the entrance to a cave near it. This is located very close to this place; thus, enter the cave to collect the North Wind Shield from inside the treasure chest.
