All Scampuss Locations – Nioh 3

Rolling through Nioh 3’s chaos are tiny ball-like cats called Scampuss. These critters zip around, hiding in odd corners. Though the world drips with blood and spirits, these little furballs bring soft moments. Spotting each one matters – not just for fun, but for two trophies. One honours friendship, another celebrates obsession. Neither comes easily. Each discovery chips away at completion. They seem out of place, yet fit perfectly.

What is a Scampuss in Nioh 3?

Rolling fast whenever approached, scampuss cats are round, plump creatures who avoid contact.

    Key things to know:

    • There are a total of 16 Scampuss
    • Two happen to be Timid Scampuss
    • You can’t pet them immediately

A Scampuss won’t let you near – instead, it darts away, making you chase until it picks a spot. You can only pet them once they stop rolling.

    Most Scampuss also:

    • Hidden things might show up if you follow where it goes
    • Reveal tucked-away locations
    • Reward exploration beyond just trophy progress

    Timid Scampuss Explained

When Scampuss feel shy, their actions shift – handling them gets trickier fast.

    Two Timid Scampuss exist:

    • One in the Heian era
    • One in the Bakumatsu era
    • They require stealth to approach

Mistakes bring a note on the screen saying:

“It seems the Scampuss got away.”

Triggering a Timid Scampuss Chase Consistently

Starting the chase feels like the biggest hurdle. Out of nowhere, the game might say you’ve already been seen.

    What worked consistently:

    • Start by activating the Timid Scampuss
    • Create distance immediately and dodge backwards
    • Follow it slowly, using a cover

Finding your rhythm might need another go or two. When the pursuit clicks into place, wrapping it up feels just like any other Scampuss run.

    Tokaido

Close to the Forest of Souls Shrine lives a grey Scampuss. It dashes off fast, heading straight for the lake nearby. After reaching the water’s edge, it scales a rocky cliff without pause. Chase begins when you spot its path upward. On the left, stones stick out from the rock wall – these help reach higher ground.

Head toward Tokaido Shrine. Through trees on your left dashes this Scampuss – orange, white, black – it swings wide right, circles round, then lands atop a small hut, calm enough to pet it if you’ve matched its speed.

    Tenryu River

Downhill from the Prospect Hill Shrine, start moving left. A tabby Scampuss darts ahead, looping around as if playing hide and seek. It slips through a narrow opening northward, quick and low. The path opens to shoreline views, rough underfoot. Climb upward now, and the creature pauses on a ledge above everything.

    Hamamatsu

Close to the Otemon Gate Shrine is where you’ll see it first. After that, just follow along; the path winds gently past trees and corners until it halts on its own.

    Lake Sanaru

Right after the bridge, along the trail to Maisaka Post. When it wakes up, the Scampuss moves ahead – follow and expect the ground to keep going.

    Mikatagahara

Just past the Tokugawa Camp Shrine, tucked nearby. Face away from the shrine, walk downhill along the path to see it. This one does not take long, no twists involved.

    Lake Hamana

Right by the beginning of the zone, just past the Otsuri Bridge Shrine. Better wait until you’ve finished exploring here before going after this Scampuss – there’s a hostile Yokai that hurls lightning.

    Iinoya

Just past the Iinoya Pass Shrine, move ahead, turn left, glide down via Spirit Vein into the dip below. This patchy-furred Scampuss takes point across stone ledges, nudging you over clunky jumps that snag your stride until it halts.

1190 CE – Heian Scampuss Locations (3 Total)

A single Timid Scampuss belongs to this time period.

    Nishiichi

Appear at the Driftwood Fortress Shrine and defeat all the enemies. Close to the border of that space, look ahead for a speckled Scampuss perched above a temple roof. Climb using stones nearby so you can get close.

    Hachijo

Right beside the Filthy Flooded Street Shrine – the east part of the map. Move left from there, into the clustered homes. Spot the dark Scampuss perched above one roof.

    Rokuhara

A small black-and-orange Scampuss waits by a glowing torch just below the Gion Grove Shrine. Crouched low, trail behind through high weeds since this one skitters off easily.

1864 CE – Bakumatsu Scampuss Locations (5 Total)

Close to the end now, another Timid Scampuss is showing up again.

    Shichijo

A short walk from the Shichijo Gambling Den Shrine leads you there. A pale Scampuss waits beyond wooden rails. As it flees, the creature flickers like a spirit before landing high above. Reach its perch by climbing the rocks close to Karasuma Shichijo Shrine.

    Sanjo

Close to the Oshikoji Street Shrine, right in the middle of the district. Turn left toward the little village ahead – the black-and-orange Scampuss waits there, out in the open. Chasing means going across rooftops – move carefully so you do not slip on a ledge.

    Gion

Over by the Shrine Walk Greatwood Shrine lies your starting point. The steps lead to a flat stone area, home of the orange-black Scampuss. Since it acts shy, move quietly – blend into high grass while tracking its route.

    Mibu

Start by appearing at Horikawa Market, and after that, make your way to the nearby Lesser Crucible to clean it out. Once done, turn left and follow the trail rising on the right until you spot the Scampuss – orange, white, black markings stand out.

    Kyoto Imperial Palace

Down by the Maruta Riverbed Shrine sits the last Scampuss in Nioh 3. Head through the town area, take a right. A pink crystal bars your way – blow it apart with the cannon standing close by. Once shattered, step past where it was; the Scampuss waits just within.
