Crimson Kimono is among the most handsome Mythical Tale rewards in Ghost of Yotei. Narrated by the traveling entertainer Ugetsu, the quest recounts the pitiful mother-daughter relationship, traced back through snowmen and the help of magical insects called the Red Yuki Mushi. By finishing up this story, Atsu receives the Crimson Kimono armor, which is generally regarded as the greatest stealth-themed set in the game.
Beginning the Tale

The journey takes off in Sakuru Woods, under the Mother Daughter Tree. There, Ugetsu explains the history of the Crimson Kimono and guides you on your quest to find it. Upon hearing this, luminescent Red Yuki Mushi materialize, signaling the beginning of your quest.
Walkthrough

The journey starts at a snow statue in a small campsite where the daughter used to camp. Inspecting it reveals a scroll that speaks of her move to the Hakodake Mountains. Following the insects north into Hakodake, you’ll soon find another sculpture beneath a Mother Daughter Tree. This one leads directly into a Shinobi ambush. Defeat the attackers, then continue to the small house where the Yuki Mushi stop. Inside lies another scroll, pointing the way to the Teshio Ridge.
Your next destination is a ridge to the north of the Teshio River. Another sculpture lies here under a tree, and upon closer inspection, the snowbugs lead you on once more. This time, they lead you to the daughter’s Old Home, where a description on another scroll says she had started work on a sculpture in a nearby frozen stream.
When you arrive at the stream, there is an unfinished sculpture. Atsu is able to talk to it and complete the carving herself. After it’s done, the Yuki Mushi appear and take you to the last location: the hidden grave of the mother of the daughter. Next to the grave is a pile of stones forming a cairn, and underneath this cairn is a chest with the Crimson Kimono.
The Crimson Kimono – Why It Matters

The Crimson Kimono is a stealth-based armor set, rendering it extremely valuable for players who are fans of silent kills over engagements. Its features are:
- Decreased enemy detect range, even during the day.
- Improved synergy with stealthy weapons, particularly the Kusarigama, which allows you to pull enemies into assassinations from cover.
- Excellent utility in grass or shadow-dense situations, allowing Atsu to dominate engagements with close to invisibility.
With the Crimson Kimono active, Atsu becomes a ghostly presence—capable of slipping into the camps of enemies, taking out threats, and disappearing without ever raising any alarms.
