In Grounded 2, the Frostbitten Key is a special item you will need to open a hidden chest with some useful rewards. To get it, you will have to explore the freezing cold Ice Cream Truck area. It’s super chilly there, so bring warm gear, healing items, and Spicy Shards to help you survive. This guide will show you exactly where to find the Frostbitten Key, how to stay safe while exploring, and where to dig up the chest to get your hands on Mint Globs, which you can use to craft the cool Ice Sickles weapon.
How to Find the Frostbitten Key and Chest
To get the Frostbitten Key, head over to the Ice Cream Truck area. It’s freezing there, so make sure you bring chill-reducing gear, some healing items, and Spicy Shards to help you stay warm and move faster. You will also need a Tier 2 Omni-Tool Hammer and Shovel later on to dig up the chest.
Frostbitten Key
To get the Key, go to the northwest side of the Ice Cream Truck. Climb up by jumping onto a snow pile, then onto the ice cream cone on the roof. Aim for one of the indentations to get a solid foothold. Walk straight ahead and drop down near some icicles. Turn right and head towards the three ice cream cones.
Just before you reach the second cone (near the mint chocolate chip one), turn right, then left under a yellow popsicle. Keep moving forward and you will find a corpse with a glowing optical disk. The Frostbitten Key is right beside it. Watch out as there are lots of Northern Scorpions in this area, so be ready for a fight.
Chest Location
After grabbing the key, turn toward the left side of where you saw the Raw Science. Now enter the big cavern. It will be filled with more ice cream cones. Drop down near the left side of the big cone above you, then keep going straight. You will find a tunnel-shaped ice cream cone, go inside and out the other side. On the other side, turn right near the yellow popsicle, then again and head up the green mint ice cream slope. At the top, turn right again and walk across the long metal pipe.
In the next area, you will come across a frozen gear. Use your Omni-Hammer to break the Ice Splinters around it so it can spin and open a new path. Go through the opening and drop down into a tunnel with Raw Science and a Mega Milk Molar. Walk into the tunnel opposite the Mega Milk Molar to reach a big cavern with Ice Sickles in the center.
If you interact with the Ice Sickles, it will trigger a survival event with waves of scorpions. You don’t need to do this to get the chest. To find the Frostbitten Chest, go behind the Ice Sickles, near a banana peel. The chest is buried, so you will need your Tier 2 Shovel to dig it up. Inside, you will find 2 Mint Globs, which are used to craft the Ice Sickles, a cool dual-wield weapon.
