In Dune: Awakening, joining a faction is a big part of your journey on Arrakis. If you want to fight with honor or rule with fear, choosing between House Atreides and House Harkonnen will determine your playstyle, your allies, and your strategy. Here’s everything you need to know about how to join a faction and what each house give you as a reward.

How To Join A House (Faction)

If you are thinking about joining a faction or house in Dune: Awakening, you will first need to prove yourself. Start by heading to the Tradepost in the East Vermilius Gap. Once you’re inside, you’ll see the banners of House Harkonnen and House Atreides. In front of each banner, there’s an NPC you can talk to. These NPCs will offer you contracts that are aligned with their house.

Take on these contracts to start building your reputation with that faction. The more contracts you complete, the more trust and rewards you’ll earn from that house. Just keep in mind if you decide to betray a faction and switch sides later, you won’t be able to go back to the one you left.

    House Atreides in Dune: Awakening

If you choose to side with House Atreides in Dune: Awakening, you’re aligning yourself with a faction that stands for honor, justice, and loyalty. They don’t rely on brute strength to win they rely on smart strategies, strong leadership, and powerful alliances.

Playing as Atreides means you’ll have an easier time forming partnerships with both NPCs and other players. Your bases will be sturdier and better defended, and your commanders will be more effective at leading and coordinating your forces. Plus, you’ll generally have better relations with the Fremen, the native people of Arrakis.

This house is perfect if you prefer a more thoughtful and diplomatic approach to the game. Rather than charging in with guns, you’ll be focusing on long-term planning, forming alliances, and expanding your influence steadily and sustainably.

    House Harkonnen in Dune: Awakening

If you decide to align with House Harkonnen in Dune: Awakening, you are choosing the path of power, fear, and absolute control. The Harkonnen are famous for their cruelty and ruthlessness they’ll do whatever it takes to come out on top, and they rule through intimidation.

Playing as a Harkonnen means you’ll focus heavily on aggressive tactics. Your forces will hit harder, your weapons will be more advanced, and you’ll have access to powerful military tech. You’re also skilled in espionage, which lets you spy on enemies and plan your next move. On top of that, your spice harvesting is more efficient, helping you grow your economy faster. You’ll be pushing hard, expanding quickly, and crushing anyone who stands in your way.
