The Wylder Remembrance questline in Nightreign is a deep and rewarding journey that uncovers the character’s backstory piece by piece through exploration, combat, and key interactions at the Roundtable Hold. Each chapter reveals more of Wylder’s past and grants powerful relics to aid you in battle. This guide walks you through every chapter of Wylder’s journal from unlocking the journal after the tutorial, all the way to the final fight with Heolstor the Nightlord.
Wylder Remembrance Quest Guide
You must unlock the journal before you may begin the Remembrance questline for each character. The journal becomes available automatically after you finish the tutorial, whether you win or lose that first fight. It is located in the room adjacent to the altar for Character Selection. The first chapter of every character’s story is unlocked from the start. But to continue further and unlock more chapters, you’ll need to collect memory fragments during your expeditions.
Remember, you won’t know right away if you have found a memory fragment. That only gets revealed once you return to Roundtable Hold. A new chapter in that character’s notebook has been unlocked if a little notification that reads, “Memory Fragment Found,” appears in the lower right corner of your screen.
Wylder Chapter 1 & 2
Chapter 1 is unlocked right from the beginning, so you can start it as soon as you get the journal. To unlock Chapter 2, go on expeditions and try to collect Memory Fragments. The following chapter can also be unlocked by defeating Gladius.
Wylder Chapter 3
In Chapter 3, head to the east side of the Roundtable Hold and talk to the Iron Menial. He’ll give you a personal quest. Your task is to find a special whetstone. Start a new expedition and look for a mine marked with an orange flag, that’s where the whetstone is hidden.
If Chapter 3 hasn’t unlocked yet, make sure the Duchess is available first, as she’s tied to the questline. Also, keep in mind that this whetstone is a unique quest item, it’s not the same as the regular ones used to upgrade weapons!
Inside the Mine
Go deeper into the mine until you spot a glowing area on the wall. A Tunnel Crystalian will show up, defeat it, then interact with the glowing rocks to collect the Slate Whetstone. Finish the expedition and return to the Roundtable Hold. Give the whetstone to the Iron Menial, and don’t forget to grab your rewards from the table nearby, including a pair of earrings to your left.
Give the Earrings to the Duchess
Next, take the Mended Earrings to the south-east corner of Roundtable Hold. Raise them to the light, then give them to the Duchess standing by the Relic Rites altar. Once that’s done, open your journal and conclude the Remembrance to complete Chapter 3. The Wylder’s Slate Whetstone, a relic that allows you to use a Greatsword attack to follow up a Claw Shot and momentarily increase fire damage, will be your reward.
Wylder Chapter 4
To unlock Chapter 4, just keep running expeditions and gathering Memory Fragments. These fragments drop randomly, so you might need to do a few runs before the next chapter becomes available in your journal.
Wylder Chapter 5
Once Chapter 5 is unlocked, begin the Remembrance and go to the Visual Codex room. Look for books with glowing white dots and interact with them.
Finding the Passage
After reading the books, you’ll see a message saying a heavy door has opened somewhere. Go down the stairs near the Visual Codex. At the bottom, turn left and head down another set of stairs. Follow the path to find the Iron Menial. You’ll find three sarcophagi. Interact with them and talk to the Iron Menial about the Priestess of the Roundtable.
Speak with the Duchess
Go back up the stairs or take the fast route to the Shore now and speak with the Duchess. You can finish this part of the quest by interacting with the light near her to complete the Remembrance.
Wylder Chapter 6
You’ll unlock Chapter 6 after finishing the second Remembrance Quest. From there, your goal is to defeat four unique Nightlords. Once you’ve taken down all four, the next chapter will open up in your journal.
Wylder Chapter 7
To unlock Chapter 7 and begin the third Remembrance Quest, you’ll need to defeat four different Nightlords. Once Chapter 7 is available, go to the workshop on the east side of the Roundtable Hold and read the letter inside. This gives you the Virtuous Thief’s Key.
Head to the Crypt and open the chest at the bottom of the stairs. Speak to the Recluse, it doesn’t matter which dialogue option you choose, the quest will move forward either way. Then talk to the Iron Menial, who will give you a new personal objective: find the Silver Tear in Limveld.
Start a new expedition and head to Limveld. Follow the quest marker, the Silver Tear is sitting on top of a sarcophagus, right at ground level. Once you interact with it, a Mimic Troll will appear. Defeat it, grab the Silver Tear, and finish the expedition. Head back to the Roundtable Hold and give the Silver Tear to the Iron Menial. Then, complete the Remembrance through your journal to finish the quest. Your rewards are the Silver Tear Relic and Wylder’s Remembrance outfit.
Wylder Chapter 8
Completing the third Remembrance Quest will allow you to access Chapter 8. Once that’s done, the next part of the story will automatically become available in your journal. Just keep following the questline, and you’re good to go.
Wylder Chapter 9
To unlock the final chapter of Wylder’s journal, you’ll need to defeat Heolstor the Nightlord. Unlike the other Remembrance quests, this one doesn’t start from your journal. Instead, you will be taken to a new area where you’ll come face-to-face with the Nightlord.
Face the Nightlord
After a cutscene, interact with Heolstor to begin the encounter. Once it’s over, Wylder’s last chapter will unlock in your journal, and you will receive the powerful Wylder’s Earring Relic as a reward.
