Tightening The Screws Quest Guide – Tainted Grail

Tightening the Screws is a short quest in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon. It starts when you overhear two guards talking about someone messing up their work. From there, you will follow clues that lead to an old cave now taken over by bandits. If you enjoy a bit of exploring and fighting, this quest is a great little adventure to check out.

How To Start the Tightening The Screws – Tainted Grail

To start the Tightening the Screws side quest, head over to the Last Tree in Cuanacht. You’ll find two guards having a chat about some recent sabotage messing up their work. Walk up and listen in, they’ll mention that someone’s been causing trouble, and a worker named Mervyn might have seen something.

You’ll find Mervyn just behind the guards. Talk to him, and he’ll tell you about an old cave nearby. It used to be a safe spot, but now it’s been taken over by bandits. That’s your lead time to check it out and see what’s going on.

Follow the quest marker east to find the hidden cave entrance. Once you reach it, interact with the spot to enter the Old Shelter. Get ready, though, quite a few enemies are waiting inside, so make sure you’re prepared for a tough fight. Use your best spells, gear, etc., as there will be a lot of enemies present there. Don’t forget to loot the bodies to get some extra items.

After clearing out all the enemies, head to the last room and check the table there. You will find a note called Letter Written in Coal it’s from the bandit leader. Picking up this letter will wrap up the Tightening the Screws side quest.
