You can talk to the bathhouse workers, gather dirt on Naaz, or even tamper with his belongings using chamomile brew and fleas. The quest also involves gaining support from Councillor Tuchmacher, which may lead to a duel on his behalf. If you succeed, Betty’s bathhouse earns the title, and you unlock free bathhouse services at Kingfisher permanently.
Starting the Quest
To begin this quest, you’ll need to wait a few in-game days. Once enough time has passed, you can speak with Betty, the owner of the Kingfisher Bathhouse, to get things started. Alternatively, a quest tipster might point you in the right direction when the quest becomes available.
Betty is looking to secure the title of Municipal Bathhouse over her rival, Adam, and she needs your help to make it happen. However, this won’t be a straightforward task, you’ll have to use some sneaky tactics to tip the scales in her favor.
Gathering Information on Councillor Naaz
Your first stop is the City Bathhouse, located in the southwest corner of town. There, you’ll need to gather information about Councillor Naaz. Several bathhouse workers might have useful details, but the one you really need to talk to is Meaty Mary. Hanka will suggest speaking to a Mary, but won’t specify which one, if you ask Lousy Mary, she won’t have any helpful info, though she will offer you a drink and a complimentary bathhouse service.
You can also chat with Katcha, who mentions an issue involving Naaz’s tub and fleas, or Lida, who will exchange information in return for a dress, which you can buy from the tailor just north of the bathhouse.
Extracting Key Information from Mary
When you speak to Meaty Mary, you’ll have several options to get the information you need. You can attempt a Very Hard Perception or Hard Compassion skill check, or simply pay her off. Once you have the intel, you’ll unlock three different objectives, completing just one is enough, but for the best outcome, it’s recommended to do all three.
Keep in mind that while you can complete these tasks during the day, it might be tricky with so many people around. If you need to pick any locks, waiting until nighttime is the better approach, though it means dealing with a Very Hard entrance door.
Sabotaging Naaz’s Wine
One of your sabotage options is to taint Councillor Naaz’s wine with Chamomile Brew. If you don’t already have some, you can buy it from the Apothecary north of the bathhouse. To access the wine, head to the second floor and go through the door immediately to the left, it might be locked, so you’ll need to either pick the lock or wait for someone else to open it. Once inside, enter the first door on the right, where you’ll find the cask on stilts, pour in the brew to complete this step.
Planting Fleas and Stealing Fragrant Oil
Another method involves planting fleas in Naaz’s laundry. Finding fleas is tricky since most beggars will take offense if you ask them directly. Instead, head to the east side of the city near the Kuttenberg Town Hall fast travel point. There, you’ll find a sack near the tents containing a Flea-ridden blanket. Once you have it, sneak up to the second floor of the main bathhouse and locate the laundry chest or clean laundry basket.
Be careful, if someone is in the baths, they might catch you. If necessary, skip an hour to shift their positions. When the coast is clear, sprinkle the fleas inside. If you want to go even further, you can also steal the Foreign fragrant oil that’s added to Naaz’s bath. This requires sneaking up to the third floor, which is a restricted area, so avoid getting spotted to prevent guards from being alerted.
