Shady Sam Location in Oblivion Remastered – The Elder Scrolls 4

If you’re looking for a reliable source of lockpicks, potions, or even skooma in Oblivion Remastered, Shady Sam is one of the guy to look for. Standing just outside the Imperial City, he’s easy to miss if you don’t know where to look. But once you find him, he becomes a convenient and quiet vendor. In this guide we’ll show you exactly where to find him and what he sells.

Shady Sam Location

You can find Shady Sam just outside the Imperial City, leaning against the outer wall in a black robe. To get to him easily, fast travel to the “Chestnut Handy Stables” near the west gate of the city. From there, walk north along the city wall. After passing the stable building, keep going for about 30 more meters. Look to the wall on your right, he’ll be standing in a corner, waiting.

When you walk up to Shady Sam, he’ll quietly call you over with a whisper:

“Psst! Hey you! Yeah, you! Come here—I’ve got what you need…”

Talk to him, and he’ll greet you with a sly offer:

“Looking for something… special? Take a look at what I’ve got. You won’t find this kind of stuff in any regular shop, that’s for sure.”

And when you’re done talking, he’ll give you a friendly reminder:

“Come see me anytime, friend. I’m here day or night.”

Shady Sam sells a mix of useful and shady items like poisons, potions, lockpicks, and even skooma he’s one of only two vendors in all of Cyrodiil who sells it. You’ll find him standing next to a bush in the eighth dip along the outer city wall, just north of the Talos Plaza District door. He’s always there.

He’s dressed in dark clothing: a black hood, dark shirt, wide black pants, leather boots, and he carries a shortsword that scales with your level. He might also have some gold on him. Interestingly, because he’s part of an “evil” faction, killing him won’t alert the Dark Brotherhood. And if you manage to pickpocket from him, the items you take won’t even count as stolen.

Buying Lockpicks from Shady Sam

If you’re running low on lockpicks, you can buy it from Shady Sam. He sells them for 6 gold each, so you can buy all 30 for 180 gold. His stock refreshes every 72 hours, and you can just stand in front of him and wait (use the wait feature) until he restocks.
