Recursive Destruction Marvel Rivals Explained and How to Trigger

Marvel Rivals has a new mechanic called Recursive Destruction, only found on the Midtown map. The exciting part about this is that players will get to have more control over the battlefield through where they concentrate their attacks. In this way, with enough damage inflicted on certain points, massive changes in the environment will take place, thereby affecting the direction of the fight and creating something fresh for the attackers and defenders alike.

Recursive Destruction Marvel Rivals Explained

If you want to play on Midtown, the only map with those special spots that crumble when you fight near them, you can choose ‘Quick Play: Midtown’ instead of the regular Quick Play. This makes sure you’ll always play on Midtown.

We’ve found a few of these spots so far:

  • The big pile of rubble in Central Station
  • The two damaged buildings near the second checkpoint

How to trigger Recursive Destruction

Recursive Destruction is a new feature on the Midtown map. There are special spots you can attack. If you hit them enough, they’ll change how the area looks. This mechanic adds a new layer to how the map changes during the game. Just like regular destruction, it alters the way you can move around and fight, making each match feel unique. To find these spots, use Chrono Vision (press “B” on your keyboard or right on your controller’s direction pad). They’ll appear as red spots instead of the usual yellow ones. Attack the red spots until they go back to normal. You’ll need to do this three times to complete the Midnight Features requirement.

There’s a catch with Recursive Destruction. You can only damage those special spots after the convoy reaches a certain checkpoint. For example, the big pile of rubble in Grand Central Station doesn’t become a special spot until the convoy actually reaches the station.  Once it does, you can use Chrono Vision to find it and start attacking.

It’s much easier for the attacking team to trigger Recursive Destruction. This is because the special spots become active as soon as they reach a checkpoint. They can then immediately start attacking those spots. Defenders have a tougher time with Recursive Destruction. When the attackers reach a checkpoint, the defenders spawn in a new location. This often forces them to leave their team and go back to the previous checkpoint to trigger the effect. It’s especially difficult if the convoy doesn’t stay at the checkpoint long enough for them to do it.
