Secrets of the Blade Quest
“Secrets of the Blade” is a key quest in Assassin’s Creed Shadows that unfolds as part of Naoe’s journey. If you’ve already completed her storyline, it unlocks right after the 63rd main quest, Wolves and Foxes. Otherwise, you’ll be required to complete it later in Act 3 to wrap up Naoe’s arc, meaning its appearance in the game varies.
Set in Izumi Settsu, this quest falls under The Assassins category and becomes available automatically after Wolves and Foxes. Recommended for level 24 players, it rewards 1000 EXP and 20 Mon. The quest follows Naoe as she digs deeper into her mother’s past within an assassin group.
To start Secrets of the Blade, open the Objectives Board, find the Naoe section under The Assassins, and select the quest. The Tomb of the Ancients is located east of Sakai. Head to its southern side, find a narrow crevice, and squeeze through to enter the Old Kofun.
Reach the Tomb of the Ancients
As you explore the Tomb of the Ancients, collect a chest and a note before crawling through a narrow gap and following the path deeper into the kofun. Swing across a water-filled gap, head down the stairs to loot another chest, then squeeze through a crevice and dive into an underwater passage. After resurfacing, swing across another pool and reach a fork where you must light candles to navigate.
Take the right path, swing across another gap, loot a chest, and continue forward. In a larger chamber with a big pool, use two grapple points to cross, then climb up toward a door marked with the Assassin’s icon. Inside, find a book on the left and pick up the Assassin’s armor before retracing your steps. To exit, squeeze through the crevice and use a kunai to clear explosive jars blocking your way.
