Post Scriptum KCD2 Quest Guide – All Outcomes

The Post Scriptum side quest within Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is an ethically motivated quest that occurs within the province of Kuttenberg. It starts as you encounter Kvyertsolav in a tavern outside the city, who requests that you assist him in writing a letter. The mere act of writing a letter, however, soon becomes embroiled in a struggle with miners, a strong and influential man named Markold, and whether or not you choose to aid or betray the miners. Whether you battle for justice or for yourself, Post Scriptum features several branching scenarios, each altering the story in different ways.

Post Scriptum KCD2 Quest

The Post Scriptum side quest in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 takes place in the Kuttenberg region, starting at a tavern west of the city. Given by Kvyertsolav, this quest becomes available after completing main quest Into the Underworld. The story revolves around the challenge of literacy among commoners, leading you to assist in writing a letter.

Your choices will shape the outcome, you can turn the miners into the bailiff for 100 Groschen, side with them for 150 Groschen, or betray them to Markold for 60 Groschen. The objectives vary based on your decisions: you may need to deliver a letter, meet the miners at Hloushetz Gate, return to them, and potentially face Markold in combat. Alternatively, you can attack the miners’ camp and claim a reward from Markold. Your path determines the fate of the miners and your ultimate reward.

Meeting Kvyertsolav and Writing the Letter

To begin the Post Scriptum quest, speak with Kvyertsolav at the tavern west of Kuttenberg. You’ll usually find him sitting at the backmost table outside. Agree to help him write a letter, and he will send you to a specific house in Kuttenberg where his associates are waiting. This house is the same location used for the “antisemite meeting” during the Into the Underworld quest.

Upon entering, respond with the phrase, “Justice is worth more than silver.” You will then have the option to write the letter exactly as dictated, improve it, or make it more aggressive and concise. Though you can ask about the letter’s purpose, they won’t reveal much. Once the letter is written, the men will suddenly decide to kill you. However, you can avoid combat by passing a Persuasion or Intimidation skill check; failing this will force you to fight and eliminate both men before proceeding.

Turning in the Miners

If you successfully talk your way out of a fight, you’ll receive an optional objective to turn the miners in to the bailiff. Choosing this route will immediately end the quest, but it only rewards 100 Groschen, making it a less favorable choice. Instead, you can continue with the main objective and deliver the letter to the shaft owner.

To locate him, head to the two cobbler shops in the city. Between them, you’ll find a house where a bodyguard will greet you. After speaking with him, he will allow you to go upstairs to meet Markold, the recipient of the letter.

Deciding Markold’s Fate

When interacting with Markold, you have three options: simply hand over the letter as requested, attempt to blackmail him into keeping quiet, or propose working with him against the miners. If you choose to blackmail him, you must pass a difficult speech check to convince him. Succeeding in this results in an immediate completion of the quest. However, if you decide to work with him against the miners, a different set of objectives will unfold.

Choosing a Side – Miners or Markold?

If you take Markold’s side, you will be charged with attacking the miners’ camp. Defeating them successfully will bring you a reward from Markold, but this route has moral implications. Alternatively, if you take the miners’ side, you will encounter them at Hloushetz Gate, return to them later, and finally engage Markold in combat. Defeating him will guarantee a greater reward from the miners. Your decisions throughout this quest have a great effect on the story, determining your reputation and the destiny of the people involved.

Follow the Miners

Meeting the Miners at Hloushetz Gate

If you decide to follow the miners’ plan, Markold will initially give you 7 Groschen and instruct you to meet some miners at Hloushetz Gate, located north of the city. If they aren’t there when you arrive, simply wait for about an hour, and they should appear, sitting by the gate. Once you meet them, you’ll have the choice to accompany them immediately or visit their camp later.

Heading to the Miners’ Camp

Regardless of when you choose to go, your next stop is the miners’ camp, located in the forest east of Grund. Upon arrival, speak with Myslibor, one of the miners. However, things take a sudden turn when Markold arrives at the camp with his men. At this point, you have the option to attempt a skill check to de-escalate the situation and avoid a fight. However, if you’ve supported the miners up to this point, it’s best to stand by them and prepare for battle.

Battling Markold and His Men

If diplomacy fails, Markold and his guards will attack. The battle won’t be too challenging, while Markold is the only one wearing armor and will require more effort to defeat, his guards are much weaker and should go down quickly. Taking out Markold will ensure that the miners’ plan succeeds.

Claiming Your Reward from the Miners

After defeating Markold and his troops, talk to Myslibor once more. He will thank you for your help and reward you for your efforts, completing the quest. By helping the miners, not only do you receive a greater reward, but you also allow them to battle Markold’s oppression.

Betray the Miners

Attacking the Miners’ Camp with Markold

If you choose to betray the miners and align with Markold instead, he will demand that you accompany him to attack their camp. Upon arrival, you’ll find only three miners present, making the fight quick and easy. With Markold and his men at your side, the miners won’t stand much of a chance.

Receiving Your Reward from Markold

After dealing with the miners, talk to Markold to collect your reward. Without the miners, Markold’s power is unopposed, and the quest is over. This is the less rewarding choice, however, since supporting him provides a lesser reward than for keeping with the miners.
