Finding where to locate the overdue books for Mercedes within the town of Atlasdam in Octopath Traveler 0 is not easy. Quest Objective
You will find Mercedes in the library at Atlasdam who is looking for assistance in finding three books, which were checked out but never returned. The books are Healing Hot Springs, The King and the Golden Dust, and Adrift in the Vast River. In addition to this challenge, none of the borrowers’ info is available to you. It is the titles of the books that suggest where they could be located.
All Three Book Locations
Below is a complete breakdown for tracking all three books required to complete the quest:
Book 1: Healing Hot Springs
Temperature is an important clue here. When you think of heat, think of Berecain. Travel to the south of the volcanic settlement and head toward the save point.
Look for a sophisticated gentleman standing on a small cliff overlooking the town; he should be easy to recognize because he is one of the very few NPCs in Berecain that players can engage with. You will have to examine him by utilizing your Path Action. His inventory includes Healing Hot Springs, which you can obtain through Entreat.
Book 2: The King and the Golden Dust
Head to Sulfrataljah now, the recovery here is simpler than the first one. At the tavern, when in front of the staircase, see on the right side of the building and go to the top floor. Check the right side and you will find the NPC Kindly Millionaire.
He already has The King and the Golden Dust, and you can take it from him without paying anything, as it costs 0 Leaves.
Book 3: Adrift in the Vast River
The final book requires more effort. Head to Donescu and enter the house closest to the town gate. This house sits beyond the two stone staircases located below the pub. In the next scene, you’ll talk to the borrower who tells you that he was attacked by lizards at Misty Falls and lost the book. Since the book is not with him anymore, you will have to find the book yourself.
To start your journey, exit Donescu and go to the Donescu Traverse. Once you get there, make your way to the nearby cave. Next, look for a treasure chest located towards the southeast direction, to its left you will find a quest marker. Look for a glowing collection point on the ground. Interacting with it will restore the item, Adrift in the Vast River, into your inventory.
As soon as you have obtained all three books, return to Mercedes at the library in Atlasdam. You will receive 16,000 Leaves upon completion of this quest, a very generous reward for this type of task.
