Flesh of Mather is one of the more unique secrets that you can get in Mortal Shell 2. While it may seem like a strange item at first, it is actually used to unlock the hidden Mango Sanctuary, where you can find a giant mango. Upon obtaining it, you can put the Mango as your mask, giving your Harbinger character a mango-shaped head, or equip it as a passive item to get a special skill.
Mather’s Flesh Location
Start by going to the Pulsing Caves Beacon that is found in the Sanguine Caves Corrupted Gate, situated at the northern end of the map. From the Beacon, follow the path until you reach an area with a hole in the ground surrounded by small Lithopod enemies.
Dive into the hole and use the ledges to go down. Ultimately, you will come to an area where there are three exploding statues beside a torch. Behind those statues will be a spiked wall which you need to hit to get the secret entrance.
Inside, you’ll find a chest containing a Dorsal Light upgrade material. Just to the right of the chest, there’s a podium with Mather’s Flesh. Pick it up and continue through the area until you reach the Sanguine Shoreline Beacon. You can either explore further or fast travel out.
Mango Location
Having obtained the item, move on to the Outskirts of Noct Beacon, which is located to the south-east of Hag’s Path. Starting from Noct Beacon, head left to enter the water via an archway and stick to the left side of the path until you reach the entrance of a cave with a burning torch next to it.
Enter the cave and find a big blue fish. On its left side, there is a small altar. Activate it using Mather’s Flesh. This action will instantly teleport you to the Mango Sanctuary. Head on through the tunnel until you reach a big open space that features a huge tree along with a giant mango lying near it. Collect it to add it to your stash.
How To Use Mango
Open your inventory and wear the Mango as your active item at a Beacon. Next time you become a Harbinger, you will have a mango on your head. Alternatively, you can wear the Mango as a passive item and recover 50% of your health instantly. Obtaining the Mango Mask will also reward you with the Ascension achievement/trophy, making it another trophy to add to your achievement list if you don’t have the Slayer’s Seal active.
