In Blue Prince, the Mirror Room, also called the Mechanarium, is a tricky puzzle area. Each door hides something special, but you can’t open them all right away. You need to plan ahead and meet certain conditions to unlock every part of this room. The reward for solving the puzzle is the Sanctum Room Key, along with other valuable items. This guide will help you understand how to unlock all the doors and make the most out of this mysterious room.
Mirror Room Puzzle In Blue Prince
The Mechanarium, also known as the mirror room, is designed like a massive mechanical spider with eight door-like legs. Each of these doors leads to something unique, but they’re not all readily accessible, most have specific conditions you need to meet, a gentle reminder that you’re deep in the mechanics of a video game. One of the main reasons to explore this intricate room is to get your hands on the Sanctum Room Key, along with other valuable loot.
However, before you can even step foot inside the Mechanarium, you’ll need to unlock its blueprint, which can be found in the Underground area. Once you’ve discovered it, the Mechanarium may randomly appear in your draft selection. At first, only the entrance door will be open, and your objective is to unlock all the remaining ones.
Requirements to Unlock All Doors
To open all of the Mechanarium’s doors, the game tracks how many gear rooms you’ve drafted before choosing the Mechanarium. Gear rooms are marked with a gear icon and include the Workshop, Utility Closet, Pump Room, Boiler Room, Laboratory, Security Room, and the Aquarium (if upgraded with Electric Eels). If you’ve already placed seven or more of these rooms, the Mechanarium will be fully accessible, allowing you to explore every door and uncover all its secrets.
If you’re trying to unlock the full potential of the Mechanarium in Blue Prince, the key is drafting the Chamber of Mirrors. This special room allows duplicates of previously drafted rooms to reappear in your draft pool. In other words, it opens up the possibility of getting two Workshops, two Utility Closets, or doubles of any other gear-marked room.
Your goal is to draft at least seven of these gear rooms. Once you’ve hit that number, the Mechanarium will eventually show up in a future draft. For an extra boost, try crafting a powered electromagnet in the Workshop, this increases the odds of gear rooms appearing.
Before the Mechanarium is activated, the game checks for how many open pathways exist around its location on the manor grid. While you technically need gear rooms in all three cardinal directions and four diagonal spots, you can manipulate this.
If you place wall-blocking rooms around the Mechanarium’s location effectively cutting off those cardinal directions, then the game no longer requires those pathways to be gear rooms. So, if you isolate the Mechanarium in a certain grid slot with surrounding walls, you may only need four gear-type rooms instead of seven. It’s a clever workaround that makes the process a lot more manageable.
Mirror Room Puzzle Rewards
As for rewards, each additional door you unlock in the Mechanarium contains randomized loot. While many of the prizes are luck-based like gems, coins, or other valuables two are guaranteed. One is an alternate lever for the Antechamber, and the other is the coveted Sanctum Key, which you’ll receive after unlocking the final door. So while it might take some planning and setup, the payoff is absolutely worth it.
