Starting your Monster Hunter Wilds journey? You’ll soon find that building the necessary gear depends on acquiring a range of materials, and the elusive Mystery Bone is a key part of the equation. This guide will shed light on the different ways to obtain these important bones, from hunting certain small monsters and searching bonepiles to doing quests that reward them as possibilities. Let’s get into the details and get you ready for your hunts!
Mystery Bone Location in MH Wilds
In Monster Hunter Wilds, there are three ways to get a Mystery Bone:
- Hunt monsters that drop it.
- Search Bonepiles scattered across the map.
- Complete quests where it’s given as a reward.
Bones are just one of the many materials you’ll need to craft weapons and armor for both you and your Palico. Bonepiles are easy to spot they look the same in every biome and you can also find them on your mini-map, marked by a bone icon. Each Bonepile gives you up to three bones if you keep gathering. Just be careful these piles are often guarded by large monsters, so stay alert!
Hunt monsters
If you’re hunting for Mystery Bones in Monster Hunter Wilds, Small Monsters are a great source. While they don’t usually have quests tied to them, you can often spot these creatures roaming the wild.
Here are a few Small Monsters known to drop Mystery Bones:
- Bulaqchi – found in the Windward Plains
- Porkeplume – found in the Iceshard Cliffs and Wyveria
- Rafma (Alpha) – found in the Iceshard Cliffs and Wyveria
You can track Small Monsters by looking for the pink diamond icons on your map. They’re easier to handle than larger beasts, but don’t let your guard down they can still fight back!
Search Bonepiles
In the early stages of Monster Hunter Wilds, Mystery Bones are pretty easy to farm by looting Bonepiles. If you’re just starting out, keep an eye out for Bonepiles in these regions:
- Windward Plains
- Scarlet Forest
- Oilwell Basin
- Iceshard Cliffs
- Wyveria
To make things easier, use the Filter Icons on your map to mark Bonepile locations with waypoints. Once you find one, just gather from it, and you’ll have a good chance of picking up some Mystery Bones!
Complete quests
In Monster Hunter Wilds, quest rewards are a bit random, so there’s no surefire way to get exactly what you want every time you finish a quest. However, many quests do have a chance of rewarding you with Mystery Bones, so it’s always worth checking the rewards screen after completing them!
