In Monster Hunter Wilds, Charred Oilbone is a crucial material for crafting and upgrading gear. Found in the Oilwell Basin, it’s primarily gathered from bonepiles scattered across the region. This guide will help you locate Charred Oilbone efficiently, maximize your farming runs, and make the most of its uses. Whether upgrading weapons or armor, knowing where to find this resource is essential for every hunter.
How to Locate Charred Oilbone in Monster Hunter Wilds
Since Charred Oilbones are obtained from Bonepiles and monsters, you can’t search for them directly on the Map. However, you can track a route to any Bonepile or nearby monsters in the area. To locate all Bonepiles in a region, open the Map and press the button displayed in the bottom left corner of the screen to access your Fast Travel List.
Next, scroll right to Filter Icons and navigate down until you find the Bonepile icon. If you’ve recently gathered from a Bonepile, a countdown timer will appear next to it, indicating when it will be available again. Keep scrolling through the gathering spots until you find one that’s ready to harvest. Once you’ve found a fresh Bonepile, select it and press Set Waypoint to create a direct route to its location.
How to Get Charred Oilbone in Monster Hunter Wilds
Charred Oilbones are rare materials that can be obtained from Bonepiles in the Oilwell Basin or by defeating monsters. Bonepiles are easy to spot, marked by large skeletons scattered across various areas.
No special tools, such as a pickaxe, are required to collect Bones from Bonepiles. Simply approach one and press the prompted button on the screen to start gathering resources. Each Bonepile yields up to three items per harvest, with the possibility of additional materials if your companions assist in collecting.
After depleting a Bonepile, you’ll need to wait approximately 15 minutes for it to regenerate. Fortunately, multiple Bonepiles are spread throughout the region, allowing you to rotate between them and gather as many materials as possible.
Note: You can obtain Charred Oilbones as loot from defeating monster such as Kranodaths.
Boosting Charred Oilbone Collection with the Geologist Skill
One of the most exciting aspects of Monster Hunter is crafting a wide range of armor using the hard-earned loot from your hunts. Armor in the game offers a variety of stats and skills, some of which can enhance your ability to gather materials like Charred Oilbones.
Upon reaching High Rank, you’ll unlock more gear options, including the Balahara and Chainmail armor sets. Both feature the Geologist skill, which increases the number of items you can collect from gathering spots.
Note: The Chainmail Set at Low Rank also includes the Geologist skill.
If you prefer to keep your current armor, you can craft a Geologist Charm instead. This charm can be upgraded to Level 3, providing the following benefits:
- Geologist Level 1: Gain one extra item when gathering from Bonepiles.
- Geologist Level 2: Gain an additional extra item when collecting Special Items.
- Geologist Level 3: Gain another extra item when gathering from Mining Outcrops.
Equipping the Geologist skill is a great way to maximize your resource collection without changing your armor set.
