In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, the “Lackey” side quest unfolds as you progress through the “Troubadours” quest or by independently visiting Gamekeeper Vostatek’s home west of Tachov. Vostatek’s wife, concerned by his absence, tasks you with finding him, setting you on a trail that leads you through the wilderness and into a series of increasingly absurd requests from the inebriated gamekeeper. We will explore each step of the “Lackey” quest, including Vostatek’s location, the various choices you’ll face, and the rewards you can earn.
Lackey Quest In Kingdom Come Deliverance 2
The Lackey side quest in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 starts automatically as you progress through the Troubadours quest. However, you can also trigger it independently by visiting Gamekeeper Vostatek’s house, located west of Tachov and northwest of Zhelejov Wagoner’s Inn.
- When you talk to Vostatek’s wife, she mentions that he hasn’t returned from hunting and is likely drunk somewhere.
- If you decide to get involved rather than dismissing it, the task of finding him falls on you.
- After the conversation, you can speak with Vitek, Vostatek’s son.
- Vitek can teach you skills and let you participate in a shooting challenge, but the main focus is his strained relationship with his father.
- During your conversation, you will face a skill check where you can use Speech, Charisma, or Dread persuasion to convince him to take his father’s disappearance seriously.
- If your skills are around levels 6-8, you should be able to pass the check.
- Alternatively, offering Vitek some money will also get him to cooperate.
Once convinced, he will share details about his father’s possible whereabouts, directing you north toward a lake. To get there, head down the steps west of Vostatek’s house and follow the path along the waterfront.
Vostatek Location
In the southwest corner of the search area, you will find Vostatek stuck in a tree, trying to escape a pack of wolves. To get him down, you will need to either scare them off or take them out. Once the coast is clear, he will attempt to climb down but ends up breaking his ankle. Now unable to walk, he still insists on continuing his drunken escapades, leaving you to carry him.
Where To Take Vostatek
You have a few different options to choose from, along with some extra dialogue choices:
Option | Outcome |
“I’ll help you” (Take him home) | Ends the quest quickly by bringing Vostatek straight back to his house. |
“I’ll help you” (Follow the objectives) | Carry him to where he wants to go and continue the adventure. |
“You’re on your own” | Leave him behind and abandon the quest. |
If you choose to leave Vostatek behind, the quest ends immediately, and he may not survive when the wolves return.
- To complete the quest, you can either take him straight home or follow his drunken whims.
- Taking him home is the quickest option but cuts the quest short, missing out on unique encounters and valuable loot from a bandit camp.
- The better option is to take him where he wants to go.
- First, carry him north along the lake until you reach a fallen tree on the left, where he will ask to be dropped off.
- He will quickly change his mind and insist on going further north to an anthill.
- After reaching the anthill, he will want to go to Wagoners’ Inn, but then decide to head even further north to a birch tree.
- Finally, he will ask you to keep going north in search of his horse, Pepik.
Continue heading north along the path, and you will eventually come across Vostatek’s camp. Set him down and have a conversation with him – he will now ask you to fill his waterskin to help sober him up. Luckily, you don’t have to go far. Right next to where he’s sitting, you’ll find a barrel that you can interact with to fill it up.
Reuniting Vostatek with Pepik
Vostatek isn’t done making requests. This time, he wants you to find his horse, Pepik. You can choose to end the quest here, but it’s worth continuing since there’s valuable loot ahead.
- Accept the task and follow the objective markers to track Pepik’s location by interacting with clues on the ground.
- Continue moving forward until you encounter a group of poachers camped near some rocks with Pepik.
- The only way to retrieve Pepik is by defeating the poachers.
- This fight is challenging as there are five poachers. A good strategy is to start with stealth.
- Sneak up on three or four poachers before engaging the remaining ones in direct combat. Poachers move around the camp, giving you opportunities for stealth attacks.
- One poacher follows a path north through the center of the camp – wait for them to reach the bottom and strike from behind. Be sure to move the body out of sight.
- On the right side of the camp, poachers are lying on the ground – eliminate them before they wake up and join the fight.
- Once all the poachers are dealt with, loot their bodies. One poacher will have a key to unlock a chest in the middle of the camp containing valuable items and a good amount of Groschen.
- Head over to Pepik on the left side of the camp and unlock the nearby door. Inside, find more chests filled with weapons, loot, and a treasure map leading to a hidden chest at Vidlak Pond.
- With everything collected, mount Pepik and return to Vostatek.
The mission is almost over – once you reunite him with his horse, you can either send him back alone or ride with him. Choosing to ride together is recommended, as it will fast travel you straight to his house.
Confronting Vitek
When you speak with Vostatek and his wife at their house, Vitek will question his father’s sobriety. You have a few options: you can lie and say his father wasn’t drunk (but this won’t work), tell the truth, or use your Domination persuasion skill to encourage Vitek to show more respect for his father. To succeed with persuasion, you will need a decent skill level, 8-10. If you are unsure about passing, it’s safer just to tell the truth. Once the conversation is finished, the quest will be complete, and you will receive 80 Groschen as a reward.
