In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Indulgence Chests offer a way to improve your standing with the church and the community, but they come at a cost. These special boxes, found near churches and scribes’ offices, allow you to donate money in exchange for forgiveness and a reputation boost. However, the amount you need to pay depends on your past misdeeds, so it’s a mechanic best used strategically when you need it most. This guide will show you where to find these chests and how they work.

They are scattered around towns, but you won’t find them just anywhere. Check near scribes’ offices or churches – you will often see them outside these buildings. Imagine a small box on a stick, kind of like a post box. That’s an Indulgence Chest. They’re usually placed right by the doors of places considered holy. Once you spot one (you don’t even have to use it), it’ll be marked on your map so you can easily find it again later.
They’re not just lying around anywhere! Some you’ll earn by finishing missions, but most you’ll have to hunt down. Not every town has them, so you’ll need to search in specific spots, usually near churches or the scribe’s office. They’re almost always outside, not inside the buildings.
Remember that towns with a strong religious presence are more likely to have these chests. Good places to start your search include:
- Kuttenberg
- Old Kutna
- Grund
- Sigismund’s Camp
- Raborsch
- Suchdol
- Wysoka
- Trosky Castle
- Troskowitz
How Indulgence Chest Work
Indulgence Chests are pretty straightforward. You use them to donate money to the church and clergy. Think of it as a way to boost your standing in the community, especially with religious figures. It’s a good idea to use one before or during a church-related quest. Kuttenberg is a great place to do this – there’s a church with an Indulgence Chest in the northwest part of town, and you can contribute whenever you like.
Paying indulgences is just like giving some small donations in special boxes that you find all around the villages. It is a way to ask for forgiveness and improve your reputation with religious figures. They will then spread the word, which improves your standing with the general populace, too.
Just a heads-up, though: these donations can be pricey, so only use an Indulgence Chest when you really need to improve your reputation. The amount you have to pay depends on how much trouble you’ve caused in the area. The more you’ve stolen or killed, the more the church will expect from you!
How Much Money to Spend on Indulgence Chest
To find out how much you need to pay at an Indulgence Chest, check your reputation in the player settings. Go to the “Reputation” tab and select the town you’re interested in. The lower your reputation in that specific town, the more you’ll have to donate to improve it. Use the indulgence Chest only when your reputation is too low, as you can easily gain a reputation in a town by completing quests.
