KCD2 All Romance Options

In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, players can engage in various romantic relationships, from brief flings to deeper bonds that impact the story. These romances offer unique interactions and attribute buffs like “Time Well Spent.” This guide covers all romance options, detailing their locations and how to pursue them. Whether for love or rewards, here’s how to navigate romance in medieval Bohemia.

The Romance Buff in KCD2 Explained

After spending intimate time with someone, you’ll receive the Time Well Spent buff, granting +1 to your Agility, Strength, and Vitality skills. This temporary boost makes you more effective in combat, but it only lasts a few hours—so make the most of it while you can.

Now that you know who you can romance in KCD2 and the benefits it offers, the choice is yours! Henry is still canonically in love with Theresa back home, so if romance isn’t your priority, staying focused on your journey is perfectly fine. And while you’re out there, don’t forget to equip the best swords and armour—danger is never far away.

All Romance Options Available in KCD2

It’s important to take a break now and then while playing Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2—whether it’s finding a place to rest, chatting with someone, or simply stepping away from your quest for a moment. Some characters in the RPG are open to spending time with you between missions, making for an enjoyable evening. Here’s a look at all KCD2 romance options and their benefits.

Long Term Romances

There are at least five characters in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 with whom you can develop a long-term romance. We’ll cover each of them below.

Romancing Klara

Location: Nebakov Fortress

Quests: Back in the Saddle and The Finger of God

You first meet Klara during the Back in the Saddle quest. This romance unfolds over multiple encounters—initially during your first visit to Nebakov Fortress and later if you assist her in tending to wounded soldiers.

Note: You have two opportunities to romance Klara in the game, and we’ll cover both interactions. The first occurs during the Back in the Saddle quest, while the second takes place during The Finger of God quest.

Dueling Michael and Meeting Klara

While Hans Capon is speaking with the lord of Nebakov, you’ll be accompanied by Adjutant Michael. After a brief conversation, he’ll invite you to a friendly duel—accept his challenge. Winning isn’t necessary, so there’s no need to be overly competitive.

After losing, Michael will commend your effort and send you to Klara’s hut for healing. You’ll find it to your left—open the gate and head inside. If she isn’t there yet, wait for her to arrive, as she was watching the fight.

Note: If you’re determined to defeat Michael, you can do so and still pursue a romance with Klara. Winning the duel rewards you with a pair of Rowel Spurs. Regardless of the outcome, Michael will direct you to Klara for treatment. He’s a tough opponent, though, as your attacks will deal minimal damage.

How to Romance Klara in the Back in the Saddle Quest

Once Klara arrives, start a conversation with her and begin flirting. She will eventually heal you and invite you to join her in gathering herbs. Accept by choosing the “I can’t say no to a comely maid” option, then follow her.

Note: If you’ve already progressed through this quest without romancing Klara, don’t worry—you’ll have another chance later during The Finger of God quest.

As you walk, she’ll ask about your adventures, so feel free to boast—she’ll be impressed. Eventually, you’ll reach a meadow where Klara will explain the herbs she needs.

Agree to help and collect the following:

  • Eight Marigold
  • Five Poppies
  • Four Sage

You may already have some of these, but if not, follow the path ahead. On the right, you’ll find Marigold, with Sage and Poppies further along. Once you’ve gathered everything, return to Klara and speak with her.

After speaking with Klara, she will ask Henry to follow her into the forest. As you walk, she will present a riddle for you to solve. To successfully romance her, select the answer: “I think she’s called Klara.”

How to Romance Klara in The Finger of God Quest

After uncovering the truth about Von Bergow, you’ll need to settle in with Zizka and his men.

Once you’ve buried the dead and tested a new invention—a handgun—you’ll enter the fortress and hear a young woman arguing with the guards. This is Klara, trying to convince them to let her tend to the wounded.

You can step in and speak to the guards, but you’ll face three skill checks. The first option is the most reliable, though if your Charisma is high enough, the second option can also work. Avoid the intimidation route, as it has a high chance of failure, potentially making the guard hostile.

After resolving the situation, speak with Klara again. She will thank you and then ask for your help in healing three wounded soldiers: Mark, Kozliek, and Zwerk.

Healing the Soldiers to Romance Klara

To romance Klara, you must help treat the wounded soldiers. She tells you to gather the necessary supplies from her hut, where you’ll also find various potions in a chest.

Once you have the items, head to the designated locations and assess each soldier’s injuries:

  • Mark: Clean his wounds with schnapps, keep him awake, dress his wounds with bandages, and avoid offering him alcohol.
  • Kozliek: Clean his wounds with schnapps, apply gunpowder, replace his bandages, and give him a potion for the pain.
  • Zwerk: Clean his wounds with schnapps, bandage them, sew his open cuts with a Tailor’s Kit, and apply weak chamomile brew to his ankle.

Completing the Romance with Klara

After tending to all three wounded soldiers, return to Klara and inform her of your help. She will appreciate your efforts, and two new dialogue options will appear. Choose the one about getting drinks, and the conversation will end with Klara asking Henry to wait for her in bed.

If you previously romanced Klara during the Back in the Saddle quest, you’ll also unlock an additional dialogue option: “No walk today, I reckon?”

Once the conversation ends, head straight to bed, and Klara will follow Henry into the hut, where they will spend the night together. After romancing Klara, Henry will receive the Time Well Spent buff, boosting his Strength, Vitality, and Agility—useful for the battles ahead.

Romancing Rosa Ruthard

Location: Primarily in Kuttenberg

Quests: Taking French Leave, Dancing with the Devil, and Oratores

Romancing Rosa depends on how you interact with her throughout key moments in the campaign. You first meet her during the Via Argentum quest, where she proves to be more than just a noblewoman—she’s independent, sharp-witted, and quick to leave Henry speechless.

Later, in Taking French Leave, she tasks you with retrieving a book from a fortress. Finally, during Oratores, you’ll have the opportunity to seal your romance with a kiss.

Retrieving Rosa’s Book in Taking French Leave

The main goal of this quest is to rescue Hans Capon—once again. To do so, you must infiltrate Maleshov Fortress through an underground tunnel, following Rosa’s instructions.

Stealthily explore the fortress until you reach the second floor of the tower, where you’ll encounter Lady Ofka. You can intimidate her to prevent her from alerting the guards.

In Lady Ofka’s room, check by the window to find a red book—this is the item needed for Rosa’s Book side quest. Complete Taking French Leave however you prefer, then return to Rosa in Kuttenberg.

Strengthening Your Bond with Rosa

To successfully romance Rosa in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, you must complete this step before starting the Oratores main quest, which occurs later in the campaign.

On your way back to Kuttenberg, read the book you retrieved for Rosa. You’ll be given three dialogue options:

  • Scholarship: “The writing style seems familiar…”
  • Impression: “The author really isn’t holding back.”
  • Persuasion: “What do you like about it?”

Regardless of your choice, you’ll discover that Rosa wrote the book herself. She will then ask for your input on her next piece. The best responses are:

  • “A woman.”
  • “Make her courageous.”
  • “She’s standing before me!”
  • “For someone else. That’s more meritorious.”

After Rosa finishes writing and illustrating, read her work and respond with:

  • “I like that there’s a moral.”
  • “It’s pretty, really.”
  • “I’d like to get to know you better sometime.”

Completing this interaction unlocks Rosa as a trainer, allowing her to teach you Scholarship (Journeyman) and Marksmanship (Apprentice) skills.

Rescuing Rosa in Dancing with the Devil

During the Dancing with the Devil quest, Henry and his allies are shocked to discover that Rosa has been taken hostage in Maleshov Fortress. When faced with this situation, you’ll have several dialogue options:

  • Persuasion: “Ransom would be a good solution for both parties.”
  • Scholarship: “It’s time to change sides, chamberlain.”
  • Intimidation: “No matter how many men we lose, you’ll die.”
  • “There’s no other way. We’re torching the tower.”

Avoid selecting the last option, as burning the tower shows a complete disregard for Rosa’s safety.

Romancing Rosa in Oratores

The next stage of Rosa’s romance in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 unfolds during the Oratores main quest. Henry and Rosa navigate underground tunnels leading to Ruthard Manor. Key moments in this section include:

  • Carrying Rosa over a pool of water.
  • Warning her to be careful while climbing the ivy.
  • Defeating a group of looters and taking down the final bandit outside Rosa’s room.

After securing the area, speak to Rosa in her room and choose the following dialogue options:

  • “Allies are our most valuable asset.”
  • “I won’t let you go away!”
  • Kiss Rosa

These choices trigger a cutscene where Henry and Rosa spend the night together.

Romancing Katherine

Location: Suchdol Fortress and later in Kuttenberg.

Quest: The King’s Gambit

Romancing Katherine isn’t about making a single crucial choice but rather fostering a gradual connection throughout the campaign. Initially, she appears aloof and distant, but over time, her feelings for Henry begin to surface. To advance this romance, you’ll need to complete two key side quests: The Fifth Commandment and The Stalker.

Katherine’s Initial Attitude Toward Henry

At the start of the campaign, Katherine is cold and dismissive toward Henry. Some key moments include:

  • Pretending not to recognize him when they meet in Troskowitz.
  • Scolding him while sneaking around Trosky Castle during For Whom the Bell Tolls.

Even if these interactions lower your reputation, there’s no need to worry—they’re simply part of the evolving storyline between Henry and Katherine.

Flirting with Katherine in the Second Half of the Campaign

As the campaign progresses, Katherine’s true motives become clearer, allowing for moments of flirtation. While these interactions hint at a deeper connection, nothing significant happens just yet. Notable moments include:

  • During your first night in Suchdol, you can ask to join Katherine for the night—she’s somewhat receptive to Henry’s charm.
  • In The King’s Gambit, upon reaching Sigismund’s Camp, Katherine bathes Henry. You can choose:
  • Persuasion: “It’s different with you.”
  • Persuasion: “What about a kiss for luck?”

These exchanges remain lighthearted, but the most pivotal moments in their relationship come later.

Earning Katherine’s Trust – The Fifth Commandment

Katherine’s romance in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 depends on how much she trusts Henry, which means helping her with key tasks—one of the most important being The Fifth Commandment.

She assigns this side quest after a conversation in the Kuttenberg tavern, where she works. The mission involves bringing a serial killer to justice, and you’ll have two choices at the end:

  • Report the culprit to the bailiff.
  • Let Katherine take matters into her own hands.

In our playthrough, allowing Katherine to execute the killer resulted in a reputation boost.

Protecting Katherine – The Stalker Quest

Another key quest for romancing Katherine in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is The Stalker, which you may receive while playing through The Lion’s Den. You must complete The Stalker before finishing The Lion’s Den. Here’s what you need to do:

  • Inside Sigismund’s Camp, wait until evening for the scene where Katherine bathes Henry.
  • Talk to Katherine afterward—she’ll mention a suspicious man watching her, who even stole one of her shoes. This triggers The Stalker quest.
  • Respond with [Houndmaster]: “Mutt will track him down.”
  • Command Mutt to follow the scent from Katherine’s shoe.

Mutt will lead you to a tent where you’ll find her stolen shoe, guarded by a Cuman named Chakan, dressed entirely in red. You can deal with him by:

  • Persuasion: “Leave her alone. You’re scaring her.”
  • Presence: “If you don’t leave her alone, I’ll smash your head in.”
  • Bribing him with 200 Groschen.
  • Defeating him in hand-to-hand combat.

After resolving the situation, return to Katherine. She’ll be deeply grateful, earning you a significant reputation boost.

A Romantic Moment – The Italian Job

During the main quest The Italian Job, you have a chance to respond to Katherine in a romantic way (heart icon reply), but this moment is easily missable. Follow these steps to ensure you don’t skip it:

  • After completing the main objectives (gaining access to the mint and freeing the hostages), you’ll be asked to speak with Zizka.
  • Do not talk to Zizka immediately. Instead, explore the courtyard and locate the minting room.
  • On the right-hand side, you’ll see a dead soldier slumped against a wall.
  • Just past the soldier, you’ll find a spiral staircase—go upstairs to the second floor, where Katherine is waiting.
  • Respond with [Romance]: “You look pretty.”
  • You can also compliment her cleavage, which makes her chuckle and grants a reputation boost.

A Tender Moment – Hunger and Despair

During the mission, Henry and his companions are celebrating in Suchdol. You have the opportunity to make a toast to Katherine. When she mentions that she’s heading to bed, you can flirt by saying: “Is there room for me, too?” This choice grants you an additional reputation boost.

Continue progressing through the main story until you reach the chapter Hunger and Despair, where Henry and his allies are under siege. After defeating the invading soldiers, follow these steps:

  • Talk to Zizka, who will inform you about an upcoming dangerous mission. Take this opportunity to ask him about Katherine’s past.
  • Find Katherine at the outdoor infirmary and speak with her.
  • Respond with [Romance]: “I’ll bring help, and everything will be alright again.”
  • Katherine will still be troubled, but after your conversation, head to the ramparts and interact with the bedding.
  • A cutscene will then trigger, showing Henry and Katherine spending an intimate moment together.

Note: Keep in mind that the Katherine romance scene is mutually exclusive with Hans’ romance. If you choose to pursue a romance with Hans at this point, it will trigger the next main objective, causing you to miss this moment with Katherine entirely.

Romancing Hans Capon

Location: Trosky Castle

Quest: Taking French Leave

You can develop Henry and Hans’ bromance into a romantic relationship by selecting affectionate or caring dialogue options (marked with heart icons) at key moments in the campaign. Some of these choices are missable, so our guide covers them in detail. Then, near the end of the game, you’ll have the chance to kiss Hans—choosing this option solidifies their romance.

How to Romance Hans Hans Capon

The first opportunity to initiate a romance with Hans Capon in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 comes after the For Whom the Bell Tolls main quest. In our playthrough, we saved Hans just in time—before the twelfth church bell rang—which granted a reputation boost.

After speaking with Von Bergow, you’ll need to talk to Hans before heading to Nebakov Fortress. Here, you’ll get your first chance to select a heart-marked dialogue option:

  • [Romance]: “I care about you.”

Later, during the Taking French Leave main quest, you’ll once again rescue Hans. Upon reaching the third-floor bedroom of the fortress, a cutscene will trigger where Henry speaks with Hans and Vauquelin Brabant. When Henry suggests escaping through the underground tunnels, Hans dismisses the idea.

  • Respond with [Romance]: “We’ll manage it together.”

Strengthening Bonds with Hans in The Italian Job

As you progress in the Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Hans Capon romance, you’ll eventually reach a quest called The Italian Job. Be aware that this occurs after a key point of no return in Act 2, so it’s crucial to be prepared. This moment is somewhat missable, so follow these steps carefully:

  • After completing the main objectives—rescuing the nobles and securing access to the minting area/treasury—you’ll be instructed to speak with Jan Zizka on the battlements.
  • Before speaking with Zizka, look for Hans, who will be standing nearby. Talk to him first, as speaking to Zizka will push the quest forward.
  • During your conversation with Hans, select the following dialogue options:
  • “We spend too little time together.”
  • “Will you come through the underground with us?”
  • [Romance]: “I’m more concerned about you.”

The next moment is also easy to miss, as it happens at the end of The Italian Job. After defeating the invading forces, a cutscene will lead Henry and his allies into an underground tunnel. Before climbing the ladder to leave, take a moment to speak with the other characters.

Find Hans in one of the smaller crypts and initiate a conversation. Choose the following dialogue options:

  • “You overcame your fear.”
  • “So you’re alright?” / “The important thing is that you are alright.”
  • [Romance]: “I care about you.”

A Final Choice: Hans or Katherine?

As you progress through the remaining missions, you’ll eventually reach a quest called Hunger and Despair, where Henry is sent on a dangerous mission.

Before setting out, you have the option to speak with both Hans and Katherine. If you visit Hans in his bedroom, he’ll share a tale about Lancelot, Galahad, and the Black Knight, expressing his frustration at feeling helpless and wishing he could be the one to save Henry.

At this point, you can choose:

  • [Romance]: Kiss him – This seals the romance with Hans, leading to an intimate moment between the two.

Alternatively, if you’ve completed all the necessary steps for Katherine’s romance, you can find her at the outdoor infirmary and choose to pursue that relationship instead. Since the scenes with Hans and Katherine are mutually exclusive, you can only pick one.

Romancing Margaret

Location: Pschitoky Inn in Kuttenberg

Quest: Damsel in Distress

Unlike some of the more developed romances in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Margaret’s storyline doesn’t include a dedicated cutscene at the end. However, to romance her, you must complete a series of specific side quests.

How to Romance Margaret

Unlike other romances in the game, Margaret’s story is more about deception and intrigue. To pursue a romance with her, you’ll need to complete the Damsel in Distress task and follow her storyline through to the end.

Meeting Margaret – A Damsel in Distress

You first encounter Margaret at a mill southwest of Bylany, where she is locked inside, claiming that the miller is fetching an axe to kill her. This kicks off the Damsel in Distress task. However, when you confront the miller, he reveals that Margaret had been stealing from him. Before you can get more answers, she flees, leaving you with the choice to either pay her fine or find another way out of the situation.

Tracking Margaret Down

Margaret resurfaces at an unnamed inn along the road west of Kuttenberg, near Miskowitz. Speak to the innkeeper, who will inform you about a woman begging outside the inn’s walls. Upon meeting her, you’ll recognise her as the same woman from the mill.

When confronted, Margaret explains that she was stealing to help a friend. She then tells you about a man named Latsek in Kuttenberg, whom she accuses of murder. She wants revenge and asks for your help.

Preparing for Revenge

Before proceeding, Margaret requests that you bring her a noblewoman’s dress, which you can obtain from any tailor in Kuttenberg. Additionally, equip your best charisma-boosting gear and acquire a sleeping potion to execute the plan successfully.

Executing the Plan

Meet Margaret in Kuttenberg and head to the tavern, where Latsek is drinking. Wait for him to go to the bathroom, then quickly spike his drink with the sleeping potion. Once he passes out outside, pick him up and bring him to Margaret.

However, things don’t go as planned, forcing you to follow Margaret to Latsek’s shop for a confrontation. Allow her to take the lead, and she will successfully blackmail him.

A Kiss or Cash?

At the end of the encounter, Margaret offers you a kiss. If you accept, you’ll receive the Romantic buff—but she will also steal some of your Groshen, raising doubts about her honesty. Alternatively, you can refuse the kiss and receive 250 Groshen instead.

Short Term Romances (Flings)

There are several one-time romantic encounters available throughout the game, and we’ll explore each of them below.

Romancing Doubravka

Location: Semine

Quest: Wedding Crashers

How to Romance Doubravka

During the wedding, invite Doubravka to dance. A high Charisma increases the chances of her accepting. Successfully complete the dance sequence by following all prompts correctly.

Later in the evening, speak to her again—she’ll appreciate your attention. This leads to a flirty exchange and a romantic cutscene.

Note: If you fail the dance, reload and try again. Doubravka is one of the few one-time romance opportunities.

Romancing Black Bartoush

Location: Trosky Castle

Quest: For a Victory

How to Romance Black Bartoush

Participate in the tournament fights at Trosky Castle—Bartoush values strong warriors. Win a match and show mercy by refusing to humiliate your opponent; this earns his respect.

Engage in conversations with him, discussing combat strategies and past battles. When given dialogue choices, select “I admire your skill” or “Fighting alongside you was an honor” to deepen your connection.

As he warms up to you, this will lead to a private evening conversation and, eventually, a romantic encounter.

Note: Pursuing a romance with Black Bartoush will lock you out of Widow Johanka’s romance.

Romancing Lousy Mary

Location: Kuttenberg

Quest: Into the Underworld

How to Romance Lousy Mary

While searching for Goatskin during Into the Underworld, visit the bathhouse and strike up a conversation with Mary. If you have enough Groschen, you can pay for her company immediately but to build a romance, you’ll have to ask her about her past and tip her generously instead.

After completing the main quest, return to the bathhouse to develop the relationship further. Over time, she may offer exclusive services that provide buffs to Strength, Agility, and Vitality.

Romancing Widow Johanka

Location: Trosky Castle

Quest: For a Victory

How to Romance Widow Johanka

During the quest, comfort her when she speaks about her late husband. When discussing war, choose dialogue options that express compassion.

If you assist an injured soldier during the quest, she will take notice. Later, offer to help with her duties and visit her at night for a deeper conversation.

Take your time—if you don’t rush her, she will eventually confess her feelings, leading to a romantic cutscene.

Note: Pursuing a romance with Widow Johanka will lock you out of Black Bartoush’s romance.

Bath House Encounters

As you travel, you’ll come across various bathhouses that offer more than just a place to wash up. For a few Groschen, you can enjoy intimate services that not only rejuvenate Henry but also provide the “Time Well Spent” buff, enhancing Strength, Agility, and Vitality.

Romancing Theresa

Fans of the first game will be glad to know that Theresa isn’t entirely gone. If Henry rejects all other romances and avoids heart-marked dialogue options, he will remain faithful to her, leading to a unique ending reference.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 offers a variety of romance stories filled with drama, humour, and heartfelt moments. Your choices will shape each relationship uniquely, so choose wisely. However, romance isn’t mandatory—so there’s no pressure to pursue a partner. That said, even in a virtual world, a little love can make all the difference.
