Investigating the Pumping Station
In Dying Light: The Beast, the Hydro-Puzzle side quest becomes available in the game after you complete Pietro’s Cable Guy mission. Your goal is to restore the water flow into the Town Hall and, along the way, earn XP and gear. The first step is to visit the local pumping station, where you can effectively avoid most infected. Inside, inspecting the water pump reveals that the pressure is functioning normally, hinting that the problem lies deeper underground.
Find the Schematics
To trace the source of the problem, schematics from the Chief Engineer’s office are needed. These are located in the Waterworks Repair Facility. A quick ride to the facility saves time. To reach the schematics:
- Access the roof via a ladder and platforms on the left side of the building.
- Enter the facility through a vent and navigate to the Payroll Manager’s area.
- Retrieve the key from a safe to unlock the Chief Engineer’s office.
Once the key is obtained, head downstairs, clear the infected blocking the way, and unlock the office. This reveals that the water issue originates from a sewer maintenance point in Old Town.
Navigating the Sewer
At the sewer maintenance point, the goal is to trace a strange clanging sound. Follow the yellow pipes through tight crawlspaces while dodging zombies and watching out for exploding infected.
A hidden vent leads to a loot-filled room, with a safe that can be unlocked using nearby codes or clues. Continue following the pipes to a crawlspace that opens into a larger hallway. Climb the ladder ahead and get ready to face a group of infected before reaching the source.
Rescuing the Survivors
The noise turns out to be survivors, including the former Chief Engineer, trapped above. Clear the zombies, taking out Screamers first, then use the Engineer’s key to unlock the exit, disable traps, and guide the group to safety.
