How to Use Armor Spheres in MH Wilds

Armor Spheres are important in reinforcing your equipment in Monster Hunter Wilds. Armor Spheres are special items that enable you to reinforce your armor at the smithy, enhancing its defense and your ability to survive in combat. As much as upgrading your armor is vital, it’s advisable to make use of Armor Spheres carefully since you’ll often get new and more powerful armor sets in the course of the game. Upgrades can make difficult hunts easier, but waiting to fully upgrade a set too soon can reserve precious resources for the future. This guide will take you through how to acquire and utilize Armor Spheres efficiently, keeping you ready for whatever challenge lies ahead.

    Armor Spheres

Armor Spheres are special items in Monster Hunter Wilds that you can use at the smithy to upgrade your armor. By spending Armor Spheres, you can boost the defense of any armor you’ve crafted, making you more resilient in battle.

Armor Spheres won’t do you any good just sitting in your inventory, so using them to upgrade your armor is always a smart move. Increasing your defense will help you survive tougher hunts, making your journey through Monster Hunter Wilds smoother. However, since you’ll be unlocking new armor sets frequently as you progress, it’s best to be selective about how many spheres you invest in early gear.

If you find yourself struggling against a particular monster, don’t hesitate to spend a few Armor Spheres to boost your defense. A small upgrade can make a big difference in battle. That said, it’s wise to hold off on maxing out an entire armor set too soon. As you approach the later stages of the game, you’ll have access to much stronger gear, making early investments less worthwhile.

    How to Use Armor Spheres

Armor Spheres are employed to enhance your armor defense, but their power varies with the sphere type. Regular Armor Spheres give lesser increases and are thus suitable for low-rank equipment, while advanced Armor Spheres give larger increases. It’s better to expend the weaker spheres in the beginning and reserve the stronger ones for advanced armor.

    How to Get Armor Spheres

You’ll first come across Armor Spheres in Chapter 2-1, titled “Toward Fervent Fields.” During this main story mission, you’ll be searching for Maki and will soon face your first Rompopolo. Once you successfully complete the hunt and return to Azuz, Gemma will call you over to the smithy. That’s when you’ll get your introduction to armor upgrades and learn how to use Armor Spheres to enhance your gear.

Get Armor Spheres by completing the main story missions

The easiest method of acquiring Armor Spheres is through the completion of main story quests. These give you a few on a regular basis, so you never run short. Apart from the story missions, they can also be earned through side hunts. Alma provides various one-time monster hunts, and from the two-star quest, “March of the Kranodath,” you will start receiving Armor Spheres as rewards upon their completion.

    Get Armor Spheres by Trading

While each hunt only grants you one or two Armor Spheres, there are alternative ways to acquire more. Trading is a reliable option, and you can exchange for them with Gawdygog, a trader located in the Wudwud Hideout of the Scarlet Forest. This gives you another way to stock up on spheres without relying solely on quest rewards.

Later in the game, you’ll gain access to the smelting foundry in Azuz. This facility allows you to convert monster parts into Armor Spheres, providing a consistent way to obtain them as long as you have spare materials. Between hunting, trading, and smelting, you’ll have multiple ways to keep your armor upgraded and stay prepared for the challenges ahead.

Get Armor Spheres as Quest Rewards

You can earn Armor Spheres by completing certain quests in Monster Hunter Wilds, including both main assignments and optional hunts. Below is a list of quests that reward Armor Spheres:

    Assignments (Rank 2):

    • A Fuse Ignited
    • A Feast in the Deep
    • A Merciless Glare
    • The Quiet, Cunning Assassin
    • Fight or Flight
    • Ajarakan Ablaze

    Optional Quests (Rank 2):

    • March of the Kranodath
    • Buggin’ in the Cliffs
    • Veiled by the Tide
    • Oilwell Basic Blast
    • Sultan of the Sand
    • Dance of Shadows
    • Fleet Flight
    • Scorching Simian

Completing these quests will grant you Armor Spheres, helping you upgrade your gear and improve your defense as you progress through the game.

    Get Armor Spheres through Smelting

To smelt Armor Spheres in Monster Hunter Wilds, you first need to defeat Black Flame as part of the main campaign. Once that’s done, head over to the Everforge in the Oilwell Basin region.

Here’s how you can smelt Armor Spheres:

    • Talk to Roqul and select the Smelt Armor Spheres option.
    • Pick the type of Armor Sphere you want to create.
    • Use spare monster parts until you’ve got enough to craft one.

If smelting isn’t your thing, don’t worry, you can also trade for Armor Spheres. Look for Gawdygog in the Scarlet Forest, they’ll exchange Armor Spheres for Ancient Wyvern Coins.
