The Broken Tower is an abandoned ruin that hides 2 hidden chests with loot. However, this tower is locked, you can either choose to lockpick the entrance or just find the key to unlock the door. This guide shows exactly where the broken tower is located, how to get the key to unlock the door and lockpick combinations for both the hidden chests inside the tower so that you spend less time trying to lockpick and more time exploring and collecting loot.
Broken Tower Location
Head to the marked location shown on the map which is west to the Old Camp nearby Cohsel’s hut. You should be able to spot the broken tower as you get closer to the marked location. The door however is locked, you need to find the key to unlock the door.
Broken Tower Key Location
On the tower’s left side you’ll find a path, follow it upward then once you’ve climbed to the higher ledge continue left from the tower.
Below the hill you’ll notice 2 bandits guarding a chest, you can drop down below sneakily without alerting them. I would suggest saving the game before heading down because if they catch you they will demand all your ore nuggets or you have to face them in a fight. If done properly you can sneak your way down, loot the chest and sneak your way back up.

After you get the broken tower key, return to the tower’s entrance, unlock the door and head up inside the tower.
Chest 1 Lockpick Combination
Upon navigating up inside the broken tower, you’ll find yourself with a chest on the above level that is locked. You need to lockpick the chest to unlock it and collect the loot. Follow the combination steps below to unlock the chest –
- Move the 3rd plate to the right 3 times.
- Then move the 5th plate to the right 5 times.
- Select the 2nd plate and move left 6 times.
- Now move the 4th plate to the right 3 times.
- Move the 5th plate again to the right 3 times.
- Then move the 6th plate to the left 2 times.
- Finally move the 1st plate to the left once.
Chest 2 Lockpick Combination
If you keep heading up the tower and reach the top of the tower, you’ll find yourself with yet another locked chest. Follow the below steps to unlock the chest –
- Move the 5th plate to the left 5 times.
- Move the 2nd plate to the left 4 times.
- Select the 3rd plate and move it to the right 4 times.
- Then move the 4th plate to the right 3 times.
- Move the 1st plate to the left 3 times.
- Finally move the 6th plate to the left once.
This chest contains the Ring of Iron Skin, steel and a flask that can be used in alchemy.
