In the Oblivion Remaster, managing your inventory is important. With limited carry weight and plenty of loot to gather, knowing how and where to store your items is important. This guide covers everything you need, from temporary solutions using world chests to unlocking and using your house.
How to Store Items in Oblivion Remaster
When it comes to storing your items, initially, you can store items in any chest or box that you come across in the game world. Most of the time, your items won’t disappear from these containers. But remember, there is always a slight chance something could go wrong. When you are accessing a storage container like a chest, you will notice a search option at the bottom center of the screen.
For example, on Xbox, you’d press the right stick to bring this up. From there, you can switch to your inventory by pressing L1 (or the equivalent top button on your controller). Once you see your list of items, you just scroll down, press A to store something, and you have moved it to the chest.
Unlocking Your Own Storage Space
To get your permanent storage solution, buy your first house. The cheapest one costs around 2,000 gold. Fast travel to the Imperial City and look for the Office of Imperial Commerce located on the map above. Once inside, speak to the NPC, and you will be able to purchase a house for 2,000 gold. This will trigger a quest. Now, go to your quest journal and highlight the quest. Follow the markers, it will guide you to your new home.
Setting Up Storage in Your House
After entering the house, the next part of the quest sends you to speak to another NPC who helps with furnishing. When you talk to him, choose the storage option. It will cost around 735 gold. You will then receive a chest and a set of drawers inside your house, which you can use to store things like spare weapons, armor, or ingredients. While you can’t fast travel directly into your house, you can fast travel very close to it, making it a convenient spot to manage your heavier or less-used items.
