How to Stop Semine from Being Burnt to the Ground in KCD2

In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s “Necessary Evil” quest, Henry finds himself entangled in a web of deceit and rebellion. After uncovering evidence linking Olda Semine to the bandits who attacked him and Otto von Bergow, Henry faces a critical choice. Should he expose Semine’s betrayal to von Bergow, risking a potentially explosive war, or should he keep it secret, endangering the region’s stability? The choice becomes even more complicated when Henry discovers the full extent of Semine’s role, which may involve his entire family. This guide outlines the different paths Henry can take, focusing on how to prevent the Semine estate from being burned to the ground, and the consequences of each choice.

How to Stop Semine from Being Burnt to the Ground

In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s “Necessary Evil” quest, Henry faces a difficult decision. He’s just learned from a captured bandit that the attacks on his group, and on Otto von Bergow, were part of a larger rebellion. Adding to the complexity, Olda Semine is suspected of collaborating with these bandits and causing trouble. The choice is Henry’s: does he tell von Bergow about Semine’s involvement, or does he keep that information to himself and let von Bergow concentrate solely on dealing with the bandit threat?

Henry’s conversation with the prisoner, assuming he asked the right questions, reveals a shocking truth: Olda Semine is actively working against Otto von Bergow, collaborating with the very bandits who ambushed them during the “Easy Riders” quest. The prisoner even hints at the possible involvement of Semine’s entire family, though he quickly backtracks on that point. Now, Hans is stumped, unsure of what to do next. He leaves the weighty decision entirely in Henry’s hands: should they tell von Bergow everything they’ve learned, or hold back some of the information?

Save Semine

When Henry and Hans are ready, they’ll meet with von Bergow and his captain, Hashek, to share what they’ve discovered. Henry will have two choices regarding Lord Semine: either reveal the truth (“Young Semine is in league with the Bandits”) or lie and say (“Nobody helped the bandits here”).

Choosing to lie will immediately end the main story quest at that point. However, if Henry previously told von Bergow that Olda left his wedding early, that lie will be much harder to pull off, requiring a difficult skill check.

Save Semine Without a Fight

If Henry decides to try and resolve the situation peacefully, he and Hans will end up siding with the Semines and fighting Hashek and von Bergow’s guards. To trigger this outcome, Henry needs to choose these dialogue options: “You can’t do that!”, “You’re going too far!”, and “I’m going to stop this.”

This will ignite a battle where Henry and Hans must defeat all of von Bergow’s men. Afterwards, they need to cover up their actions by fabricating the deaths of Olda and Lord Semine, and then burning down their estate. Upon returning to Trosky to report to von Bergow, they’ll have to lie about what happened. Letting Hans do the talking makes this deception much easier. It’s crucial to remember that if Henry confesses to betraying Hashek, he’ll be hanged.
