To create a romantic relationship with a character in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, you will have to complete their questlines. As soon as you meet them, you will see the dialogue options with a heart icon. These are the romantic choices. Although choosing them is not strictly necessary to get close, playing them up increases the likelihood of successfully pursuing a romance.
Also, there’s no downside to romancing multiple characters at the same time. The characters you can romance don’t interact with each other, and so far, there doesn’t seem to be any quest where your relationships with them are brought up. That said, this mostly applies to Naoe, as she’s the only character with more than one romance option.
How to Romance All Characters
As you progress through their quests and continue choosing flirtatious responses, you will eventually see a dialogue option with a heart crossed by an arrow. Picking this option makes the relationship official. Once you reach this stage, an intimate scene follows. Below are all the characters to romance in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
Koshiro And Naoe Romance
Players will first encounter Koshiro during the main story. After that, they can head back to Kitano Village to start the Genzaburo’s Soldiers side quest, which eventually leads to another quest called The Leaf Turns.
In this quest, Naoe helps Koshiro by retrieving his toolbox. When she returns, Koshiro takes her to a place called Lover’s Lake, where players can choose the “Like me.” dialogue option to trigger a romantic moment. The icon for this choice is the same as the one used for regular flirting, but the outcome is consistent with the other romance options in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
Gennojo And Naoe Romance
After completing the Lost Honor main story mission, players can start the Sake and Swords side quest in Yamashiro. Finishing it unlocks Honor Among Thieves, which then leads to another side quest called Stolen Hearts.
At the start of Stolen Hearts, players will rescue Gennojo. During this moment, they’ll have the option to say, “I’d like to embrace you.” Choose this option to invoke a romantic scene between Naoe and Gennojo.
Katsuhime And Naoe Romance
The character of Katsuhime is met by the player during the main storyline, and then they can start the Letter from Katsuhime side quest by going to see her in the Shimmering Fields area of Iga. The quest leads into a series of side quests leading up to The Jounin Pillow Book.

Rin And Yasuke Romance
To romance Rin, players must first complete the Arrow Strike side quest, which begins by talking to Yasha in the Gobo area on Kii’s southern coast.
When the season changes, they’ll unlock another quest called War Horse. Completing it and waiting for another seasonal change will trigger the final Rin-related quest, Ride into Town.
If players have consistently chosen flirtatious dialogue with Rin throughout these quests, they’ll eventually get the option to say, “I would like to kiss you.” Choosing it will lead to a romantic moment between Rin and Yasuke.
Hori Hidemasa And Yasuke Romance
Players will first encounter Hori Hidemasa in the Otsu district of Omi. Speaking to him will initiate the Betrayer’s side quest.
After monitoring and destroying Nobunaga’s traitors, players have the option to choose the phrase “Meeting you was my reward.” to trigger the romantic scene between Hori and Yasuke.
Lady Oichi And Yasuke Romance
After completing The Wheel Unmasked main story mission, players can start the The Wheel Turns side quest by reading Lady Oichi’s letter at the hideout.
This quest takes them to an island in the middle of Lake Biwa, where they’ll help Lady Oichi and her daughters pick a new pet cat. At the end of the quest, players can choose the dialogue option “Let’s enjoy the moment.” to share a heartfelt moment between Yasuke and Lady Oichi.
Ibuki And Yasuke Romance
As players advance through the main story, they’ll unlock the Ambush Interrupted side quest in the Hijiyama area of Iga. Completing this, along with the following Ibuki missions, will eventually lead to the Putting Down Roots side quest.
