How to Pickpocket in Schedule 1

If you are trying to complete all the achievements in Schedule 1, you probably came across the Indian Dealer achievement. In order to complete this task, you need to sell an item to the customer and then pickpocket it back. Here is a straightforward guide that will help you complete the pickpocket successfully for items in Schedule 1.

Pickpocketing in Schedule 1

In Schedule 1, pickpocketing requires you to crouch by pressing the CTRL key and sneak up behind an NPC. Once you’re close enough, a prompt will appear to press E to pickpocket them. This action can be performed even while the NPC is moving, as the game will temporarily pause the world for you.

After initiating the pickpocket, you’ll need to complete a mini-game where you must time your button press to match a sliding arrow. Successfully pressing the button at the right moment will steal the item, but be sure you have an empty inventory slot beforehand.

Failing the timing in the mini-game—which is bound to happen at some point—will cause the target to call the police. A phone icon will appear above their head, and you’ll need to escape before the meter fills up. If you fail to flee in time, the local police will begin an investigation, deploying vehicle patrols and multiple officers. This wanted status lasts longer than others, so you’ll need to stay hidden for a while.

To maximize your chances of success, it’s best to pickpocket a stationary target or someone who is zoned out after using the goods you sold them. Darkness also makes pickpocketing easier. Successfully stealing from a customer after a deal will earn you the Indian Dealer achievement.

Best Strategy to Escape the Police in Schedule 1

If you’re caught in the act, escaping the police becomes your priority. Fortunately, as long as you haven’t been spotted, your hideouts remain accessible. The best way to avoid the investigation is to run straight to your hideout before the police arrive. You can wait out the timer there as long as no police unit’s red meter fills up.

Another effective hiding spot is the large trash cans scattered throughout alleyways. You can open one, jump inside, crouch, and close the lid. These make excellent hiding places, as officers rarely check alleyways or investigate trash cans.
