Increasing your stats and learning new skills in Gothic 1 Remake is driven by learning points, ores and visiting specific NPC trainers. Earn LP by gaining XP, spend LP and ores at trainers like Diego, Scatty and Fingers. Choose upgrades that match your build – strength upgrades for melee build, dexterity for ranged and rune magic for casters. Early game priorities are strength, dexterity and core combat skills. This guide exactly shows where to find trainers to upgrade combat skills and increase stats.
Increase Character Stats
Character stats play a vital role in your character’s development, boosting your strength and dexterity will not only make your character strong but also lets you wield high tier weapons that have specific stat requirements.
Increasing Strength +5
In New Camp, after you gain access to the tavern look for an NPC named Jeremiah, speak with him and exhaust his dialog options, especially the ones related to Rice Lord. With this you’ll unlock an additional dialog option with Horatio.
Now head to the rice fields and look for an NPC named Horatio and speak with him. Ask him to train you and you’ll notice a new dialog option “I’ll take on the Rice Lord if you help me”, select the dialog and he agrees to train you. After you’ve finished the training you’ll gain +5 Strength.
Boosting More Stats
You also get another opportunity to boost your stats in the Old Camp and this time you get to choose which stats you want to boost. Look for Diego at the Old Camp and ask him to train you, you’ll be presented with 4 options – boost strength or dexterity for 5 LP.
Combat Skills Upgrade
Even if you are well versed in character stats it doesn’t make you strong yet, you need combat skills to survive fights and defeat enemies. With combat upgrades you can chain combos, deal critical hits, learn how to parry, knock enemies and unlock finishers.
One Handed – Trained
In New Camp, take left from the tavern and head uphill until you reach the training grounds, visit after 8am in the morning.
Speak with Cord and he will teach you one handed melee skills for 10 LP and 50 ores. You’ll learn to land critical hits, chain combos, parry skills and learn to use one handed weapons efficiently.
One Handed – Master
In the Old Camp, look for an NPC named Scatty around the Arena inside the camp. Scatty is the host of the arena and he can train your one handed skill to Master Level. This upgrade is going to cost you 20 LP and 200 ores but it increases your critical hit chances, improves your one handed expertise, adds finishers to your combo and your attacks can cause knockbacks.
