Windrose’s base feels a lot less like a home and a lot more like a pile of half finished chores if you try to do everything yourself. Hiring workers solves that: recruitable NPCs bring permanent, station specific bonuses that scale your crafting efficiency and make base life actually worthwhile. This guide shows where to find each hireable worker, how much they cost and the quickest way to assign them so their perks start saving you time and resources immediately.
Hiring Workers
You can find workers at safe havens like Tortuga, People of Tortuga Base etc. You’re going to need 500 Piastre to hire each worker and it’s totally worth it because they give some bonuses on your crafts.
Rosalinda Mercer
Teleport to Tortuga and head towards the bar and you’ll come across one of the workers to your right who you can hire.
Her name is Rosalinda Mercer and she’s an alchemist. Hiring her and assigning at your base is going to grant you a 30% chance for crafting an extra elixir. Interact with them and you’ll get an option to hire them by paying them 500 Piastre.
Jasper Crowe
You can find the worker Jasper Crowe near the Buccaneers camp at Tortuga. He is a tailor and provides a 30% chance to recover resources spent on upgrading an item.
Black Axel
To hire Black Axel, you need to travel to the People of Tortuga Base and you’ll find Black Axel just outside the building near the cooking area as shown in the above images. He is a cook, so he offers a 30% chance to cook an extra portion.
Assigning Workers
Head back to the base to start assigning workers. You can also check the workers list that you’ve hired under the Workers tab using the Bonfire menu. It also shows which workers are assigned at your base by showing “Assigned” on their profile. And as you can see, I haven’t assigned any of them, so let’s get started.
Since Rosalinda is an alchemist, you can assign her at the Alchemy Table under the workers tab on the alchemy menu as shown in the above image, you just need to click assign.
I don’t remember where I’ve found Mortar Joe, but it must be one of the safe havens as I’ve said before. Mortar Joe can be assigned at the Millstones, he increases your Gunpowder production by 50% and he also has a personal quest that will probably be in future game updates.
Jasper Crowe is a tailor, you can assign him at the Armor and Clothing Workshop. And from now on, any upgrades you do will have a 30% chance of recovering the resources used and you still get to keep the upgrade.
Black Axel is a cook and you probably know where to assign him by now, at the Cooking Fire. Now there’s a chance that he’s going to make an extra meal for you to use later when it’s needed.
